Thinking of dipping my toes into Porsche ownership and looked at a 2018 997.2 gt3 RS in lizard green ! Has green roll cage and partial green on interior seats etc and is clubsport spec I’m just not sure on the colour.
What are your thoughts please ?

Ok colour is absolutly subjective - so it’s your shout. I personally don’t like LG but others do and it’s not my car.

If it’s your first 911 then a 991.2 RS is a hell of a way of dipping your toe in and they are not for everyone - if you’ve had lots of other raw supercars then it will not be a problem, if not , it’s quite a thing.

Be careful on price - the overs market is very frothy and advertised prices and actual sold prices can be very different - either way whatever you do, don’t think for one minute that you’re buying an investment (assuming this is what the dealer is saying)

Good luck, they are an engineering masterpiece.

Edited to add : Not that I care about this and it’s highly subjective, but there is a school of thought that says that Cermaic Brakes (Yellow PCCB’s) and a cage are a “must” - I agree on the cage for an RS , brakes are subjective depending on usage - but the re sale market prefers ceramics (rightly or wrongly) - However it’s your car so buy what you like .

Edited again to add : just seen “your garage” - you can probably ignore most of my post smile

Thankyou,
I’m contemplating a px on my 488 gtb for the 991 as I’ve never really gelled with it and the prices for them are dropping like a stone right now so maybe a good time to get out of it.
Got a 991 in mind and spoke with the dealer and cost to change is minimal at the moment with the 991 at 200k just not sure on the colour, there are others around but not specced up as nice as this one.

I’m sure it will feel gutless after the 488 but I just can’t gel with it, the sound of it drives me mad and I MUCH prefer my 458 spider if just for the sound alone, there’s to much about the 488 that I don’t like so she’s got to go.
Done a lot of research on the rs and I like what I’m reading so maybe get one and see how it goes, I do prefer the track orientated type cars right now as I’ve raced for the last 20 odd years in different series and enjoy that type of car, just never having had a Porsche of any type before makes me a bit hesitant for some reason.
I have a few friends with Porsche’s that have said you won’t go far wrong with an rs but I just wanted to get opinions from you guys before taking the plunge so to speak.
Really appreciate answers so far, keep them coming !

Will see how I get on with it. Taking delivery this saturday now after a good test drive. Will still have the 458 and performante to use alongside it.
Interesting answers throughout, thankyou.
Talking of which, I tried a perf with the race bucket seats as a demo and if anyone is considering one for the love of god don't get one with these seats they are back breaking !
Comfort seats all the way.

That's just a stupid comment though, because every one does more than 60 mph on B roads in these cars we choose to own.

So one then has to think how far do you want to go over the legal limit, in a shorter geared car the speeds can be far lower to enjoy the car. As Taffy has found out. And why I sold my 996 GT3, as older GT3's just make really bad road cars imo !

the issue now is the new laws regarding fines and points vs speeds brought in in 2018, so getting caught now is far harsher, so owning a car you cannot enjoy makes it a lifestyle posers car, nothing more if you don't live on track with them or are prepared to take it to 120 or so.

the 458 only does 88mph at 9k revs in 3rd, so as I stated you can be on it and see red line in 2nd 3rd and 4th.

older GT3, GT4 and all 981 do 85 mph in 2nd lol !! only the 997.2 RS has the shorter final drive but still does 104mph in 3rd vs the Ferrari 88mph !

It's a big difference driving a Ferrari over GT Porkers or even a bogo 981 manual.

yikes You rev your 458 to 9000 rpm in 3rd !!! I’m surprised you haven’t blown it up, the limiter on these cars is 8200 at best.....

Sorry to sound a bit of a simpleton but the test (to me) of any car is how it makes you feel.
I’ve driven many Supercars and moved up from a 991.1 GT3 to my current 991.2 GT3RS.
Drive either one then tell us ‘how it/they make you feel’?
Thanks.
I agree, I have driven the 991.2 gt3 RS and I’ve bought it because it ticked the boxes for me.
Yes, it’s harsh on the road but so is my performante and AMG 63 s but that’s what I like.
I have a very comfortable car to drive if I need to.

The 458 revs up to 9k or even 9.2K according to some sources..Where did you get 8200 from or are you referring to the 488.?
I meant I’ve never taken mine above 8200 as don’t like to rev to the limiter.
Mechanical sympathy and all that...
