So, on a similar format to another thread on here, I have long been a fan of Porches. My dad had one many moons ago which only strengthened my desire for them. I am tempted by a new one, but then I also kind of feel I want an older version, one that has character, offers a cheaper experience but can put a smile on my face.

Depending on the price it is unlikely it would end up my daily driver, but I would ideally want hassle free experience. By that I mean, I don't want to buy one which is going to end up regularly requiring work to fix as I have no experience or desire to do it myself, it would end with expensive bills.

Is there any advice you guys can provide on what to look out for, what to avoid, what these types of car are likely to be like to live with. Is my idea of no issue motoring an unachievable dream?

I am thinking of post 2000 911's but could range upward to 2013 ish, and could go earlier, depending on the risks/rewards of each and finding one that fits.

I appreciate this is a broad beginning, but I am eager to soak up advice from those with more experience than just looking at them as they pass by.

Thanks

A 2011 2.9 Cayman for about £23k fit the bill.
Saw one of those on Porsche website and was tempted. Do they have good reliability? Any specific things I need to check for?

I love the shape

Cheers all, will have a good look today and tomorrow and then may fire back some questions.

Also looking at changing my daily which may impact my final decision.

just an update. Appreciate all the advice. I have had a brief look but family been ill so not had any time to get out and see any. Also that voice in my head is telling me to be sensible and buy something lesser but new for the hassle free driving. Need to test drive one asap to make sure the heart continues to speak louder than the head
