Hi Experts,
I am looking to update my 987 S Tip with a 981 (or S) PDK. I have found a 981 S PDK with 52K miles, being lucky enough to have never bought a car with that many miles on it I am a little apprehensive. It’s a Porsche! Will I be buying expensive trouble? If so, what should I be looking at carefully apart for the usual, Full OPC history, disc and tyres ....? Listening carefully to PDK, exhaust, engine tapping....
Many thanks

My 981 GTS has 55k now. Drives, feels and looks as new. Absolutely no issues (touch wood!).
..... Likewise, my 981 Boxter S has done 51,000 miles, and I'm hoping to do a 6000 mile road trip in May to Athens and the Greek Islands! I love the car, having covered 15,000 miles over two years in it!
Thank you all very much for the reply’s and putting my mind at ease re the mileage. I am intending to buy, after a second test drive this time on an A road or Motorway this weekend! I must admit it looks fantastic and has a very good spec, wish me luck!

It can't be more than 7 years.
Spot on, first registered March 2012! So coming up to the 7 year anniversary.

Is that significant?

Mileage should not be a problem, providing it has been properly looked after (shabby details are a good indication of lack of owner care) and correctly serviced - ideally FPSH.

What I have noticed is that, as mileage rises, values start to drop off notably or they are slower to sell, so more chance of netting a lower priced bargain.

It shouldn't be the case, but there are quite a lot of sub-20k mls Boxsters, so 30k+ start to look higher mileage, and 40-50k+ more so.

Remember, some 981s are now approaching 7 years old, so the full Porsche warranty is good for 'peace of mind' - especially on the more complex optioned cars - as there is more to go wrong.

Good luck
I have jumped in! I listened to the advice inspected carefully, noted a few stone chips to front, some wear internally, noted full OPC stamped service book, although next one due the middle of the year (Aug) and have paid a deposit........, what do you think 2012 981 S, 52K, with PDK, Chrono, 14 way seats, cruise and 4 6-8mm tyres - £30K

Yes, I chose 2.7 981 over the S.

I had my "must have" spec list searching for used in 2015. About 10 options I "had" to have. Missed on one or two of course.

PASM wasn't on the list but the car I chose happened to have it and now it would be in the top three "must haves" and any car without it would be rejected. Have you tried one with it?

14 ways strangely useful, especially thigh extension and electric column. Moves away when exiting or entering.

May be too late to change - you sound smitten.
It is with an independent, intention is to get a Porsche warranty when serviced in Aug. Yes it has PASM as well as DRL regards 14-way, I’ve already saved my driving position 😊. I know it is a very personal thing but one of my ‘must haves’ was non-black leather, I wanted some colour to lift the interior, the beige (not many about) almost sold it there and then! I have driven a 2014 2.7 and it drove immaculately, although felt a little tame, but it was a test drive! The other influencing factor is the dealer is giving me a good part-ex...... yes I’m smitten - thanks everyone for the pointers and comments.

Any pics of the inside OP, don't see many in that combo.
Here you go, borrowed from the sellers website, I’m sure they won’t mind as I’m picking it up on Saturday!

Looks good and seems highly spec'd. Black sports design wheel would finish it off nicely.

Check if the wind deflector is in the front compartment as it's not fitted.
I would have liked a black too dash like you can get on 911’s, I understand it’s not an option on Boxsters. Thanks a Good point, it was fitted when I had the test drive (s), but will make sure it’s there when collecting!
