Nothing selling? 997s
Discussion
Thank you. Just noted that my original post didn’t read very well thanks to typing on an iPhone .. the spec is part of the challenge I think. So many 997s are safe colours and yet there is little to differentiate these ones come resell time. I’m also trying to see what mileage they become even harder to sell. A lot of 997.2s hovering around 50-60k but no more..
Thanks Woollyjoe! Appreciate the insight. The prices are creeping a little at the 45-47 grand mark where stock has been sitting for a while.
A bit of me is thinking to buy a 40k mile car and sell at 60 rather than buy a 60 and get no interest at 75k miles when others are available and the supply is short.. maybe overthinking!
I’m awaiting something ‘different’ as I was this 997 to be a special

Thank you all for the encouragement! I agree, but do want to feel excited about my first 911 and the colour is a key part of that.
I’m considering keeping my 58 plate 635D in almost perfect condition as WBAC offered me less than 6k. Bonkers. Not fun to hustle around, but a motorway/distance monster especially with my remap.
The search continues!
Ps love your GTS very nice. Just feel these are a little hot in value right now compared to a well specced 997.2. TVRs are what got me into PH over 15yrs ago.. was obsessed with a Griffith.. still love that noise

That 635d part x price/sell price is also holding back the market making it really hard to justify the change - OR you keep it and then have the added costs and hassle of 2 cars for 1 person.
Cheers Welshbeef... At less than 6k I would keep them both and not put my 997 through the daily.. I would rather sell it and only have one set of car costs, but I will not sell if that means a p1ss take price.. I just spent 2k+ on wheel and brake refurb, AC recharge and sensor repair, BMW service etc..Murph7355 said:
Be picky on spec and the choice will be limited.
I spent a while looking at options thinking they were all priced too high. Then decided you only live once and bought a higher miles C4S PDK (how undesirable can you get ) a year ago.
Wasn't looking at manuals so couldn't really comment on comparative prices with PDKs. I like the PDK transmission a lot, but Chrono Plus is needed and needs to be in "Plus" to get the most from it on a spirited drive.
Personally I couldn't see the extra in a GTS at the time and am still not sure it's there. At least 15k IIRC, some a good chunk more. Nice cars with a nice spec but not that sort of difference.
Thanks Murph7355! I agree with you on the pricing for the GTS model (which one dealer said to me was not where he would spend his own money).. When you say higher mileage car - 70k+? Thanks for the pointer on Chrono Plus.. Will keep checking that.. For me colour is very important and so is PSE.. I really want options on the exhaust.. I am flexible swapping some parts like paddle steering wheel etc.. I do rather than an urge for a ducktail.. I was at Bicester Heritage recently at the Petrolicious event and drooled over the dark green CSR Porsche - it was gorgeous I spent a while looking at options thinking they were all priced too high. Thanks Murph7355.... I love blue! One of the colours I have been looking for.. I appear to have lost 2hrs looking at duck tail options for 997s 😮 crazy.. I spotted a silver car advertised today that has cocoa leather and full Moshammer Aerokit with the ducktail. Not quite my spec, but the first retail car I have seen with mods to this degree.
That’s it!! I have been mulling over a white 911 C2S that I didn’t intend to buy a white one or a C2S vs C4S...
Decided after looking at the pictures and speaking with the dealer (in Scotland and I’m near London) to go for it! Feeling nervous and excited 😆 deposit paid..
The Car is off for an MOT and to their Porsche sister dealership for a 114 point check.
I figured white (with enough contrasting black) is less in your face.. I was getting nervous of having a 911 on my drive daily and the reactions of other motorists to a red one as a daily.. white is different enough to not be black or silver.
C2 vs C4 - read far too much and was undecided but thought that in reality for a daily, while the extra traction might be nice.. I have lived with two M5s and a remapped twin turbo 635D with a torque curve to move the planet and not had issues (not that on the public highway I ever pushed that hard).
Hoping this is the start of the dream come true for so many years of wanting a 911 and so many looking at the model of one on my desk.

Wouldn't change the grilles unless you're going to try and put a Porsche warranty on it. They'll ask you to remove them.
Thank you.. I’m not going to.. I have read the issues with grills and Porsche. I guess enough of you have concerns with rotting radiators to make this a worthwhile activity Murph7355 said:
That was quick
No photos of the inside??
I like the script but it feels like it needs something front side and rear side too.
Have fun with it. And remember - sport plus, manual mode, exhaust on loud and depending on the road, dampers "soft".
Thank you.. going to be quite an acclimatisation driving it back from Scotland! No photos of the inside??
