Hi,

I’m currently awaiting the delivery of the new 718 GT4, in Ireland.

As much as I am grateful that I was offered one of the first few slots in Ireland, i’m like a spoilt child eagerly awaiting for it... one can only keep Googling photos of it for so long :-)

When I paid the deposit and finalised my order 8-9 weeks ago, Porsche told me that it would likely arrive end of September / start of October, however when I contacted them this week, they still didn’t have any update on a date, so I guess it will be November at best, as usually I received a formal date 2 months out from delivery, on previous Porsche’s.

Has anyone heard when they are expected to arrive in the UK, as like many other things, Ireland are usually a few weeks behind the UK :-)

Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks guys... sorry, what do you mean 'on sale' date?

Porsche Ireland also said that I would have to register the car when it arrived, and that I couldn't hold back for a January (2020) reg. Doesn't mean much in the UK, but in Ireland, no one would ever buy a new car in the last 4 months of the year... however this car is not one that will particularly depreciate, as soon as it enters 2020.

Ok great, congrats.

Can you let me know when it arrives please, as I don't check the forum too often?

@ Roger and Nick, are you keeping the car at your dealer until Jan 2020 to register it, or are you going to register it straight away?

I don't think I have a choice, even if it is mid December when it arrives.

Can't see the point in delaying. I will take delivery at the earliest opportunity.
Ok, the number plate system in Ireland is very much based on the year, so if you register a 2019 car in December... the car is perceived as a year old a month later (January 2020).

It doesn't affect a somewhat 'rare' car as this, but any other car would loose significant value.

Hi oo7ml,

Bought my GT4 in Dublin, my car had a build slot in November 2015 and the car was delivered/registered early January 2016. From what I heard you're in for a great car, am happy for you. I'll be taking mine to Kirkistown this Saturday for a track day with the Porsche Club, coming from Dunlops can't hardly wait to try a new set of Cup 2s
Supe, thanks.

Porsche Dublin have informed me that the car needs to be registered this year... I presume because of slot availability, etc, so i'll just have to respect that.

The 718 GT4 should be a great car BUT there is not much of a difference in a 981 GT4 and 718 GT4, purely because the 981 GT4 has already set such a high benchmark :-)
