Local OPC tells me that 'if i don't take delivery by year end', they have been instructed by Porsche GB not to honour (previously agreed) fixed price on the year's price increase (since the order was put in).

Basically order for the Cayenne PHEV was put it late 2018; due to WLTP issues , production was delayed but the SM told me that they will honour the original 2019 price as since then, there has been slight increase - about £1800 overall.

Car has finally arrived & i've been sent porsche connect activation email/code.

but out of the blue, i had email from SA saying i HAVE to take delivery by latest by end of this month, otherwise, i'll have to pay the 'new' price.

Any advice??

But i presume if i register the car december, in terms of re-sale, i'll lose out in say 5-6yrs time (ie how long i plan to keep it for) - 2019 vs 2020 car??

I asked for goodwill , because of above, but as expected from porsche, zilch.

Oh right, i didn't realise that.
I was merely using guestimates from parkers on previous model valuations - comparing one yr to the next within same number plate numeral, specifically 54 reg.

Yup it’ll be no difference. Although I think your OPC is being economical with the truth....they want the car registered in 2019 because of performance bonuses etc. If they’ve agreed a price they have agreed a price....they can’t change it based on whether you take delivery within a few days.

Porsche GB wouldn’t be getting involved in when a single specific car is being delivered.

Been a tough year for OPC’s scrabbling to get sales booked.

Good point - i never thought of that - seeing from the OPC, or rather the individual saleperson's point of view.

So, if the car value is not going to be dented one bit in 5-6yrs time, in terms of resale value, presumably the earlier i get the car the better (instead of sitting outside the showroom for next 1month)?? i almost feel like taking the OPC to task for trying to pull a fast one. I'm originally from the States & the whole process seems a little more transparent.

It will be worth fk all by then.
Which makes the case for a two x 3yr lease rather than outright purchase of anything from the standard range?

I know taking to the Sales Exec at my OPC that some of his colleagues are having trouble getting their heads around the concept of making outgoing phone calls....it’s been a relatively easy job for the last five years...until this year.

I spoke to a Sales Exec at another OPC yesterday about a Panny Sporrt Turismo demonstrator they have.......really poor. Just no attempt to sell me the car/find out why I was buying it/whether I already owned a Porsche etc etc. Schoolboy stuff.
Just had a call, now offering free wrap if i take it off their hands by year end. So, they are desperate to make the end year figures, just not showing it.

Ah so things have progressed and they’ve changed their tune ?

Ask for the first service free...something that has genuine fiscal value to you. They’ve probably offered the wrap (I assume PPF) as it will cost them bugger all. I also would not take that as you can get some really st jobs which you wouldn’t want to get in an argument about.

Free first service and I’d take the car.
you reckon i should reject the wrap ?
Cost-wise (to me), it seems to be more than a service, plus service is only at 20k but wrap i get now . Wonder anything else i could ask......

I'd suggest having a look at the approved used stock - there is a sudden rush of brand new, pre-reg cars, which have obviously been building up as they waited for emissions approval, come to dealers. They are all the same high-ish spec, and depending on how you play them off each other, you should be able to get at least 12k off list - I just did on a Cayenne Hybrid Coupe. Are you getting that off your order?

Just cancel your order, and buy one of these smile

for example: https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en_GB/Cayenne-EHybri...
Wow , that's got me thinking.
I'm seeing a (almost) exact configuration - registered this month as a 'demo' - if i can get the same 12k off, that'll be 9k saved.
I got a 2k 'discount' which is built into a part x plus almost 1.5k for a 'price freeze' to 2019 rather than 2020 price; this is for a custom order from 15months ago!

Only difference i guess will be 24months warranty vs 3yrs, & couple of specs difference (eg mine was ordered with spyder alloys).

i'll lose another 3k off my deposit.

You walk into an OPC now wanting to buy a “nearly new” Cayenne you will get an amazing deal.
Looking at it now, but the demo prices all seem to be jumped up by 8k, ie adding all the options listed, the price shown is 8-9k more than it should be. I can't quite figure this out.

I'd second that, they want to get the sale in by the end of the month and year.
yes, i agree.
however, i couldn't think how to challenge that; i did raise with the overall business manager, phoned him etc but he just re-iterated along the same line.

What did you do in the end?
east london - https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en_GB/Cayenne-S-1272...
1600miles on the clock, pre-reg early nov but lost my deposit (£3k) for my order from last yr. £7k discount, & quite close to what i originally wanted. The blue is actually closer to black in real life.
Would have preferred 21" spyder

I'm sure others would be able to get far better deals, maybe leaving it till last few days of the year, particularly on the coupes. Loads of pre-reg on forecourt.

Nice car....our S Diesel is Moonlight Blue it’s a really nice colour but then I would say that !

Amazing really I wonder if you’d have ever gone down this road if the OPC hadn’t told you you needed to take delivery this year.
i was amazed at how many pre-reg 992 & cayennes were on the forecourt; actually most were highly spec'ed.
A guy got £12k off the former whilst i was there; i was v envious.
Obviously deals to be had.
