Buying Porsche 997 advice
Discussion
Hi it's been a very long time since I have owned a Porsche my last was a 924 new lol.
Any how I want one now children married and just me a d the good lady.
The car will be a Friday to Sunday car.
I have found a 996 with only 54k on a 2005 plate. Seller ( dealer not porsche but reputable) has stated to me the car has had Borescope done and was clear. New updated IMS by Porsche main dealer with results and receipts to prove.. Also car was purchased by a doctor in 2010 as approved used and has only done average of 3k a year. I have looked at its mot history and has only ever had one fail for a faulty tyre and never had a advisory.
Car is a 3.8 C2s manual with 355bhp in silver with black leather and looks in amazing condition. It has full Porshe main dealer history.
The advice wanted is even though borescope done and clear does that mean it should be ok in future ? If not is there anything that can be done to prevent it in future.
Also a car that's never had a advisory has been meticulously look after or its saving it all up for me.
The price is a bit under 23k.
Any thoughts on whether this car worth the price and anything else I need to check on.
Any advice apreciated
Thanks

I bought mine (997.1) at 54k and shortly after, rear suspension bushes and coffin arms needed replaced. Also alternator wire loom went too.. Porsche said this is well known to happen..
Apart from that it's been fantastic. I think that's a really good price. Bore scoring thing is dependant on who you wish to listen too.
It came up clear from a bore scope test and it has had a updated IMS fitted via porsche dealer with invoices to prove. I would imagine that it has been pampered as not one not advisory since new and one owner for last 10 years who PX it for a classic car.Apart from that it's been fantastic. I know on a 996/997 its said that if left tail pipe gets sootier deposits it can be a indication as per quote :
One tailpipe more sooty than the other(this is often thought to be related the the failure occurrence, but it actually is a symptom of the equation that creates this failure!)Sooty tailpipes are more common on the driver’s side of 996/997 cars, but can happen on either side if the issue is limited to one bank of cylinders. In situations where both cylinder banks have one or more failing cylinders, both tailpipes, or even the bumper may have signs of soot deposits.
