I really hated these cars when the original Cayenne was released, from an aesthetic point of view if nothing else, but now view them almost as a modern 928 on stilts and they look like a much safer buy than an l405 FFRR!! What are these like to run? It wouldn't be a daily, more a high days and holidays weekend Swiss army knife car, dogs and bikes and overnight stays away. Reliable enough? Does the engine still have the cooling pipe problem? Any other issues to be aware of?

I know these were 250kg lighter than the older model which must make a difference to the drkve and fuel, but how bad is the economy? Sub 20mpg everywhere or do long trips achieve mid twenties staying off the fun pedal. I just adore the perceived mechanical integrity of these machines and I'm not THAT bothered about mpg but there is no point having something that will return 14mpg everywhere all the time. I have a friend with a 5.0sc FFRR and he can actually get up to high twenties on long, easy runs with the cruise on and staying well within the limits. Is the Porsche similar or does its presumeably higher state of tune being n/a really cost at the pumps?

I know, I know, not the kind of car to buy if you're concerned about fuel but a weekend toy must still be kinda useable!!
