I have a Boxster 987S - great car. But, we are pregnant and due next May ! The Porsche is a 2nd car so it does not need to be totally practical as long as we can fit a babyseat in and a pushchair in front boot.

So I have been looking at trading in my 987S + some cash for a 2003/2004 996 Cab. Why is the C4S so much more expensive than a 996 C2 Cab ? I reckon around 10K more on average.

I know that its 4WD + wider body & better brakes but it is quite a bit heavier so the C2 has a better power to weight ratio.

Not sure about the rear reflector but overall I think I prefer the look of a C4S.

I did read somewhere that the chassis was stiffened for the C4S cab - is it a better drive - which one feels quicker ?

Any accepted reason that the C4S cab is so much more than the C2 Cab ?

Thanks

Okay so I can see some of the reasons for the price differential now - more desirable body shape !!! Plus better brakes & suspension.

What about driving sensation - Is the C4S the better experience or is the C2 the purer choice (lighter and RWD only) ?

Thanks

Looks like C2 Cab is the "sensible" choice then.

Better P2W ratio and more space in front boot.

But...I now prefer the look of the C4S - wider stance etc.

I like the side skirts. In fact seen a C2 with side skirts and they do make a difference.

So do I hold on to my 987S until spring or go for a C4S/C2 cab now - Is the 987S likely to depreciate more than the 911`s ?

Go for a Targa or better still a coupe...why bother with a cabriolet at all!

The Boxster is my first cab and I have to admit that the open top adds to the experience. The sound plus the wind in the hair just makes you feel more involved - you`re tricked into thinking that you`re going quicker than you actually are.

I think it will be hard to go back to a coupe now. Especially as the Porsche is not really used as a daily drive.

I`m not sold on the look of the Targa - I will try to get a better look at one. How much of thr handling ability do the C2 & C4S cabs lose out to the coupes ? Which is the Targa most like ?
