911 - Tiptronic or Manual

Hi

I'm thinking of buying a 911, probably a 996 and have started to look at cars.

I drove a 996 with tiptronic gearbox and was impressed with the system, although I was skeptical before I had tried it.

Obviously tiptronic costs more, but does it add to the resale value of the car and do people prefer manual transmission over automatic.

I will probably eventually choose what I feel is best for me, but curious as to what the view of other Porsche owners.
