I know that this comes up frequently, but a search wasn`t too conclusive.

I want to replace the lower front chin spoiler on my Mk2 GT3 and I understand that there are two options, Standard or Cup versions.

I heard that the Cup version is larger and cheaper than the standard one, is this correct?

Who is the cheapest supplier for these items, as they seem to be a consumable!

Thanks Bo, do you know if its possible to remove and replace one with the car sitting on the ground (looks a bit tight) or is it better to get it up on a lift?

Why are the Porsche fixings crap?

Upon doing a bit of reseach, either people use different names for the different types or there appears to be three types of chin spoiler for the Mk2 GT3.

Standard
Cup
Motorsport

If you include the 11 rivets, adhesive tape and delivery, they range in price from the Standard (£159 to £199) Cup (£135) and Motorsport (£136-£160)

It could be that the Cup and Motorsport ones might be one and the same. The only clear photograph of a Cup one is on Gert`s www.carnewal.com web site. The Motorsport one sounds really low!

So, the final choice is Cup at £135 or Standard at £159. Given that they all get ripped off in the end...

I am leaning toward the Cup one as its cheapest...scratchchin

You are speaking about the small front lip below front spoiler, aren't you?

In OPC, it costs about 120€ + painting.
On my car it is painted, but when I see GT3, they have a black lip (not painted?).
Thierry, 120€ is the right cost for the Cup version from Belgium plus Tax and shipping.

I would like to stick with Porsche approved parts wherever possible...

Does anyone have the part numbers for the Standard One and the Cup Splitter please.

The local OPC cant seem to find the Cup Part Number.

Thanks
One of my local OPC`s had no knowledge of the Cup version, the other could only find the Tequipment Aerokit Cup II, but it was a very poor picture on their system... rolleyes

Mark, my new Cup version arrived this morning and it has the Porsche part number 996.505.986.91 stamped (moulded) in to the underside/rear (OSF about a quarter of the way along)

Hope this helps?

Okay Guys, I just removed a standard one and fitted a Cup Spoiler today.

I did it on my garage floor without ramps, wooden blocks or any other stuff.

I just used a "Stubby" screwdriver (38mm) and a pair of snips to cut back two of the plastic heads off screws that refused to come out.

It`s really not that difficult!

For those that are new to this, or are even remotely interested...

The new Cup spoiler has 115mm clearance off the ground at centre front.

The Cup spoiler has a 45mm more horizontal width (flat plain) at the sides, in front of the wheels.

Dispite the above, the Cup spoiler is way higher than the front brake ducts which are only 65mm off the road!

Dan. It`s sitting about about five turns off tight on each screw until the morning, just to let everything dry out and mould wink

Then it`s tape off and screw it all up finally...
