Guys,

Having recently just brought my 996 turbo, I was planning to get it Rolling Roaded to check all was well. I've previously used a company in Cheltenham called PowerStation I gave them a ring. They sugested a rolling road day one Saturday late May or early June. We would need 10-30 cars and it would be priced at £25 per car. The normal cost would be £40! They have a top of the range SUN 4x4 Rolling road and the guys really know their stuff.

Any of you guys up for it? As we'd all be done on the same road on the same day conditions should be perfect to give some true comparisions between cars? Plus we'd all get to meet-up for a natter'n'stuff. If we get enough interest I'll book a day.

Cheltenham is quite a way away.

A better (more central) venue for many people might be G-Force in Aylesbury, who are Porsche experts and have an 1800bhp rolling road.......

Guy

I'll give them a ring, I'm just putting the idea out there at the moment. Just to see what the response is like...

G-Force seems the most popular choice. I'll ring them tomorrow and see if they can accommodate us. I'll then post all the details on how to get there etc. I'm not even going to ask what dates people can or can't do as I'll get as many answers as people. Still I'll try and be sensible in terms of a major sporting event or LeMans for example. From the look of their website it's gonna be more expensive though.

Right guys,

G-Force would be able to host the event on Saturday 15th May starting at 09:00. They require a minimum of 12 cars with a maximum of 24. So it's first come first served. The Price will be £50 per car but this would drop to £40 if we get more than 20 cars. This includes a pre-run level check including oil, tyres and water (if required).

E-mail me your details including -:

Your name,
Pistonheads ID,
Car type,
Colour,
Year,
Registration,
Contact number (optional),

and I'll add you to the list. My e-mail for this event is RR@planetEarp.net

Cheers, Steve

P.S. Or, Let me know if you'd rather save the £25 and drive to Cheltenham.

Make that 4 cars now!

I'm sure with some creative enterprise this could be arranged for almost free? Some years ago AMD in oxford did a free r/road day. Maybe if we invited GT Porsche or 911 world along? It's amazing what a bit of free publicity can do!
If push comes to shove i'll give a guy i know at max power a ring!
Alan

All good idea's Alan but with only 5 cars signed up at the moment I'm not sure we'll even have an event. Still early days yet...

Guys,

Looks like we are all systems go, having got (just) the 12 car minimum to make this thing happen. So just a quick reminder May 15th (Weekend after next) at G-Force in Aylesbury. It's going to be £50 per car but that includes a pre-run fluid check (plus disconnection of 4WD for 993TT owners). Hopefully we should start around 9:00am. I wouldn't arrive too late as 12 cars are not going to take all day.

Looks like We'll have an interesting cross section of Porsche ownership.

1-Steve Earp (996 Turbo), Blue 996 Turbo.
2-Barry Jeddo (BarryJ), Red 993 Turbo.
3-Ian Dorrian (Ian-Dorrian), Red 993C4S.
4-Andrew Derodra (AndrewD), Silver 996 GT3.
5-Alan Friedman (Aceparts-com), ??????.
6-????? (neon-fox), Grey 964C2.
7-Felix Klauser (Phelix), Silver 993 Turbo.
8-????? (Infernored), ?????????.
9-Stu (StuT), Noble GTO.
10-Gary Ramsdale (Aceparts-com), ???????.
11-Greg Terrence-Cook (Buster), Black 996TT X50.
12-Gerry Gibbins (911Habbit), Blue 996TT.

If your not on the list or I've got your details wrong drop me a mail. Anyone else who fancies coming along just drop me a mail with Name, Pistonheads ID, Car, Colour, year

This is the link for the G-Force address / map / contact details.

How many cars do we need to have to get the price per car reduced - was it £40 per car if we had 20 cars?

Since we've just got the 12 minimum what happens if one person drops out?

For these two reasons, should we open this up to the PCGB forum? I'm happy to post it there if you want but its your call Steve.

I'm guessing they are not going to get too arsey about one or two dropping out. It might get a bit embarrassing if we drop below 10.

So if you'd like to open it up feel free. Get them to e-mail me directly on RR@planetEarp.net

So, how did the day go?
Do you have a list of results?

I couldn't make it yesterday, and would be interested to hear your impressions!

Well there was some good news and some bad news...

The bad news is having turned up at 9 along with Barry, Ian, Andrew, Alan, Fleix and Neon-Fox. We found out that the Rolling Road had broken and we were unable to run our cars. Chris from G-Force tried to make some calls but was unable to resolve the problem.

The good news is we get to do it all over again on the 29th of May. I want to try and keep the original attendees happy so we could get a later date if required although this would be more like August. So anyone who fancies rolling road II on the 29th drop me a mail at RR2@planetEarp.net and I'll add you to the list.

Thanks to everyone who turned up it was good to meet you and get a look at your fantastic cars. All of which looked superb. Can anyone who turned up late (after we'd gone home) drop me a mail, there may be some more good news for you ;-)

Cheers, Steve.

P.S. I'll start a new thread called rolling road II for the new event.
