Two wiring questions

Engine back in my car this weekend after a very long rebuild and some of my pictures not quite clear, so two questions.

Alternator, the big wire from fuse to the big terminal on the alternator I can see. But the wire marked alternator from the engine loom has two options on the alternator and I cant remember what one it was . There is a terminal marked D+ and one marked either W or M. Do you know which one is for the engine loom wire marked alternator ?

Then the started motor same applied the big wires are clear its the small wire again on the engine loom and this one for the starter. I can see two options on the solenoid, one outside and one nearside the block. Again I dont recall what one I used , nearest the block or outside of the block. If that makes sense

So on the starter there are three terminals .
One big one for the battery wire and the wire to the alternator together.
This leaves two same size terminals one either side of the solenoid , they are the same size about 6mm I guess.
I am not sure which one of the two same size smaller ones to use for the engine loom
