My tuscan is going in for a body off chassis rebuild soon, apart from the rebuilt chassis, shocks, brakes, lines etc is there anything else i could get done to it while its in bits. Gearbox was recently rebuilt and the diff has play so that will be done while its in pieces. The only other thing i can think of is the cam chains, these were done by powers when it was rebuilt in 2008 and its done just under 50k since

By lines assume you mean brake and fuel If so both make sense.
While suspension is off don't forget bushes.
Yes brakes and fuel lines, bushes are in with the rebuild

Thanks for the reply. They have a good reputation from what I read on here. Thinking about having my chassis done in the next year or two so assessing the options.
I have had some service work done there and a gearbox rebuild and get a good feeling they are a good bunch. Maybe nip and see them when mines in bits and see the progress

That’s not looking too bad at all!

76k miles is a good innings too. Was the car used in all weathers as well?

I guess not too much in the way of repairs needed, although the shot blasting might reveal other matters to address.

Are you getting them to do any other mods or updates while the body is off?
I have used it in all weathers to be honest, l;ess when there is salt about but it has been driven on salty roads. Not may mods to be honest, the diff is tired, i will get that rebuilt and get the Nitrons freshened up. Theres a whole list of things on the sportmotive website that are included in the body off.
Oh i have treated it to a new ACT exhaust.

Thanks for the quick reply. I think that chassis has held up well if it's (nearly) an all weather car.

The full chassis rebuild on the website certainly has an extensive list of things that can be changed done with the price quoted. I guess you can knock things off the list - like if you already have nitrons, etc.

I'd imagine it's a good time for a new clutch if the engine/gearbox is out already too.
The clutch feels ok but i will get them to check

My chassis didn't look much different when it came out, although I did have a hole through one of the front suspension brackets, hidden under a piece of powder coat, which is what prompted the body off. Once blasted it ended up having both full outriggers, all front suspension brackets and a couple of tubes around the manifold area. Mine had done a few years as a year round daily though.
I'm expected hole's when it's been blasted

Its an old car isnt it , how many cars from this time do not need some kind of welding for a mot or at least advisories for rust. We know they had there issues from when they were built but i actually expected it to be worse.

Do you mind sharing what you’ve paid for the work done? Ive a Cerbera and whilst the chassis looks good it would be good to have a future figure in the back of my mind.
I have messaged you with some details

These completely overhauled and newly powder-coated or painted chassis look really wonderful!

Have fun to bring that on the road again! What is your time schedule?
Thankyou, I'm hoping I will get it back in around 6 weeks
