Hi Guys ,

I am in need of some help with regards to wiring diagrams for the engine loom and car body loom , where is the best place to down load such items or buy them .

I ask this due to i have been rebuilding an already very clean straight tuscan owned by PH member on here until last autumn when i was lucky enough to buy the car (very quickly mind you as i was aware its had alot of money spent on it in the past)and i have slowly been attending to all the TVR troubles from the factory .

car is seen here

pics from last owner

I will be posting on here once completed with all the pics of all the work done , and try and help others as much as i can too .

The car runs perfect which it should as its got a very late engine (2006) which has only covered 1100 miles and Racing Green fitted it along with other work from jason at straight six .

last owner spent 22k .

The problem i have is the air con works correctly IF i run a 12v supply from the positive of alternator to the compressor clutch , fans cut in and out etc .

i can not get a 12+ to the wire labeled on the engine loom air con clutch , i removed the heater/aircon switch on the center tunnel and have found that 2 of the wires have been removed from the multiplug on the switch and dont know why .

So thought i would trace all the wiring is correct , and while i am there i think from when it last was used OCT 2009 the hazards only flash on one side .

Down loaded from my tuscan here for others

http://www.mytuscan.co.uk/downloads.php

and here from Grahams site

http://www.varleyhyd.com/FJ062.asp

but the loom is slightly different as i have 2 round multiplugs for engine loom and none have the main car body loom diagrams .

Any help would be great as its nearly ready for me to use and these are the last things to attend too

Have you checked the fuse (#28 - 20amp) that feeds the A/C clutch?
Thanks yes i have and guess should post what i have done .

The fuse 28 supplies the heater to which is all working correctly hot / cold fast / slow on and off .

I have removed and regased the system too just incase the pressure was low due to low gas and not making the pressure switch (which i assume it has one) like all other cars .

So i can regulate the temp while the compressor has a 12volt supply from alternator , the fans kick in and out correctly and the temp inside the cabin is lovely and cold .

I need to workout why 2 wires and been removed and taped up from the control switch and then slowly run through the wiring circuit for the air con system .

The car is a 2000 model but i have notice that the ecu has wrote on it 2006 and must of been fitted at same time as engine and the cats have been cut on the outlet side and rewelded to line up with exhaust system .

So i am guessing that in the past its had a couple of changes made to some of the systems in line with new or recon parts fitted .

before the new engine it did have a rebuild on the original engine which was not done correctly and did not last and the company who did the work went bust , then RG fitted the new one .

I spoke to RG before buying the car and they confirmed that all the major work done thats needed , engine / clutch flywheel / nitrons / bushes / full repaint / perfect chassis / new seats / brakes and upgraded stereo and alarm .

They did say it needs to finishing touches to make it a extremely good car , which is what i have been doing in between the customers car work load .

I have finished servicing / polishing and paint under the bonnet changed all belts and alined them so they run true , fluids , plugs , ht leads , coil pack , filters, installed heat reflective matting near the exhaust manifolds and lastly throttles all set up correctly and she purrs ,

now i have a ACT carbon intake to fit but of course cant until i trace why the air con clutch is not energising as the loom connections are behind the air box on the bulkhead banghead

Also you need to check the AC trinary switch (pressure switch) which has a tendency to pack up if not used for a while. It's located by the receiver/drier in the front wing.
Also check that the evaporator thermostat is set to fully cold. This is stuffed up above the passenger footwell.

Not sure about your chopped wires, but it doesn't sound right especially if the body loom multi-plug has connectors/wires for them?

FYI, the 12V supply for the compressor originates from the heater control unit, (again stuffed up in the passenger footwell). It's also not unheard of for the compressor feed to become disconnected by accident after work has been done on the engine so trace it back as far as you can to check.
Thanks mate wink

spent around 3 hours going through all the posts from last couple of years on here to do with A/C and heater , so with some very usefull info found what you have wrote above thumbup

ordered a new trinary switch and reciever dryer from tvr power this morning .

Then while playing with heater controlls this morning i dont have hot anymore only cold and when i adjust the temp control i hear a faint buzzing but not flap movement , so ordered a new stepper motor too .

The evaporator thermostat is not fully cold so will set that lower and heater control unit is covered with spray glue and black so much that i would not be surprised if its got too hot at some point .

So the plan is to source another heater control unit , replace pressure switch ,change stepper motor and reciever dryer then set stat lower .

this is what has stumped me thou

picutres of the heater controls/switch

front

back showing 4 wires only on a 6 pin connector

the 2 wires taped up

and the wire untaped clearly showing they have once been in a connector

green is 12v + and black is earth .

so this is why i need a wiring diagram or someone to look to see either where the wires go or if they are also taped up on their car biggrin

does that make sense
