Lots of broad ranging opinions and experiences, so thought a vote might be useful to get to the bottom of it hehe

What about the deep cycle Yellow Top...? Anyone tried these?
In short - no.

But despite some good scoring in the poll, hearing a lot of noise about a "change in manufaturing location" and a drop off in reliability and quality as a direct result.

Sooooo.... in hind sight maybe I should have taken the old battery out first and had a look at the "seating bay"

  • sigh*
Seems there's a few different stories/experiences out there with batteries, and something at 270+mm isn't gonna fit... goddammit... smile

....about 2 weeks on mine if the car isn`t started.
That will vary from individual car to car more than be an operation of the battery - but the point being that its not designed to live with deep discharge. I'd rather have that covered tbh hence looking at the red tops and Odessy.

Getting a recommendation from the battery boys on the Excide?? My only frame of reference for this is that it received zero votes... Hence my apprehension!

Anyone experienced the Excide??

For anyone that's interested:

- Took various photos of the battery bay empty and in various states of being put back together; just IM if they might be of use to you and I'll happily share
- Have an Excide, because:
- Tayna's recommendation after a few days of discussion and research
- Advice to stay away from Optima
- Same for Banner
- Odyssey not having something to fit (tried!)

So we'll see how we go!

Still feeling a little nervous as not one vote went in for the Excide boxedin but she's all installed as of this morning. Brought that smile as she started first time fit off the bat after standing most of winter, and my spanner monkey efforts... Chuffed and just had to go get some petrol wink Think a quick wash and a dash to bluewater might be fun given its finally above zero outside!

Re-read the mail history. Let me correct - not negative about Banner (quote: good solid batteries) but they strongly suggested Excide above them.

Don't shoot the messenger wink

Banner is good enough, is exide objectively better?
I can't comment - just taking onboard what I'm hearing from their side.

I didn't - was the advice from the supplier. Went with their recommendation.
