After some 7 weeks almost I get my rebuilt Cerbera back tonight (all being well). Got the pain of running it in but at least I have virtually got a new engine! Apparently the oil pressure is fab ie over 70.
I am like a kid at christmas (but with a £7K hole in my wallet and a wife who wants to kill me!).
Yippeeee

Not getting a penny from the warranty company.
Going to chase them up to see why they reckon it is wear and tear. The limit is £1K anyway.
The bill from TVR was £5.6K but that included new clutch and flywheel. Not sure that TVR will give me a discount - the engine needed a full rebuild for various reasons (2 new heads, new bearings etc). Think I would be just asking as a favour to get money back rather than having a genuine reason. But if anyone has any suggestions as to how I can get some dosh from TVR or the Wtty company then I would be very interested!!
The £7k bit includes a service.

I am guessing that it will be 1.4K but that is to cover labour to take the engine out, refit, fluids etc plus charges to service, weld exhaust, fix a couple of small items...
Still to pay for work at 1K to change oil and adjust clearances.

I lied !!
Actual costs now through:-
£5341.82 - TVR Engineering
£1114.21 - garage
So £6.5K. That doesnt feel so bad!!!
If I can get £1K out of the warranty company then it will look 'cheap'.
I must say though I am very pleased with the 'garage' costs. He has done loads in that price. Engine in/out is up to 15 hrs labour plus all the fluids etc plus a service. I would have expected a main dealer to charge me nearer £2K for that element.

Oh and the garage is going to do the 1K service (oil, filter and clearances) for free (I just pay parts). So it just gets better. The bill from TVR was steep but just about everything in the engine is new. All in all for what I have had done it is a very good price.
And the car is amazing to drive (at 2.5K revs).

Thanks guys for the support!!! Read the facts. The engine re build work probably came to about £5.5K all in or so. The rest (£1K) was service and other work. I have a virtually completely new engine (do you want a full list of what was done!?). Other garages could not have done this work as they dont have new heads or bearings (I think). If it didnt need new heads then it would have cost at leat 2k less. I now have a TVR years warranty for the work. Not sure I can be described as happy about it - I am just not like others around who have gone looking for sympathy and shoulders to cry on. The work could have cost a lot more if I had gone to a main dealer.
Just gotta see the positive aspects, enjoy the car and get on with my life.
