Due to a change of plans, I now have, the ex Peter Wheeler, 5.3 AJP for sale. The engine has not been fitted since a full rebuild, so is ready to go. The engine builder, ex factory, and, so I believe, was involved in the original build, reckons it's worth £20k, but I really don't see it making that, what do you think would be a realistic price to set?

More importantly how have they maintained the AJP character?

The 4.5 is a high revving bike like screaming engine maintaining increases in power right to the top.

If they've bored and stroked this engine then there is a possibility that the engine develops its power in a band around 4k and and is much slower revving. I'm not saying it is but if it were then for me its an interesting test mule of an engine but not something I would want.

Do we have any information on how it previously drove? What figures it made? Any dyno ploits?

I would have to say though if it was peter wheelers there should be a lot of paperwork/history that goes with this engine. There are still some people who used to work at TVR lurking around. I would gather that all up before selling as it will be a big draw for a lot of buyers

In terms of paperwork, I currently have very little, other than an old dyno sheet. I had it in my Cerb, and have been told, by several knowledgeable folk, that it was commissioned by Peter, and ran in his Tuscan challenge car, to help him get to the front. I can confirm that it pulls like an absolute train, and certainly did not run out of puff above 4K.

That's the one, rebuild was arranged by Ian, at Torquervt, by an ex factory engine builder, all inlets etc are standard 4.5 ones I believe.
