Im looking at ways of getting the weight of my cerby down as much as possible, but with the car looking the same. So any good ideas out there? Here is my current list of things to do:

1) replace spiders for Bola B7s (saving of 2-3kg per wheel, so 10-12kg)
2) lightweight flywheel (saving 2-3kg)
3) replace bonnet and boot lid with lighter versions. (saving of upto 18kg)
4) remove a/c (dont want to do this, but can save 18kg?)
5) i've read somewhere about 2 piece discs?

So any other ideas?

Cheers
Steve

Bolas are cheap joke wheels, knock offs of other brands.
ive heard good reports about bolas, also they have a good weight saving and the correct offsets, which seem hard to find, except for team dynamics (sp12s). I like rota, but again offset issues which result in rubbing on the rear arches,

any suggestions welcome, as i've searched the internet like made.

I think you will struggle with a road car.

Our Racer has obviously had loads of weight saving measures applied and at the last weigh in we were 997kg.

No inner wings
Single skin bonnet
Single skin boot
Single skin doors
All structural fibre glass removed
No interior at all, just bear fibreglass with a carbon dash.
Carbon fibre wheels (6.2kg) each
Lightweight onlins dampers
Only basic wiring for engine and lights
No heater system (pipe work or blowers)
Full carbon race seat (4.8kg)
Polycarbonate windows all round including windscreen
All interior fibre glass shaping cut away and replaced with flat carbon sheet.

Mike
lol im surprised its not a lot lighter, interesting to see what can be done. How much are those wheels? i bet you need to remortgage for a set!

Things that you can save weight on without losing the ‘niceness’ of the car :

2 piece Tuscan front discs : 1kg per disc
Rear ARB and mountings : 8kg (also improves traction and handling, will need adjustable shocks to stiffen the rear)
AC : 18kg
New Bosch coil packs vs original : 1.3kg
SP12 wheels : 8kg
RP flywheel : 3.63kg weight, not sure of standard weight
Helix clutch : 250g
Swap seats for Tillet B5 : 20kg
Decat : 1kg
Nitrons : 4kg
Alloy rad : 1kg
Rear seat belts : 2.5kg
CD changer : 1kg
Sports exhaust : 6kg

That leaves you with a car that doesn’t really look or feel different to standard, accepting that some might not want to lose AC.

It will handle better, stop better, be more efficient and faster.

One thing to be aware of : They don’t weigh 1100kg like TVR claim.

Mine was 1217kg before I started the weight saving.
Some great bits there, have you weighed the car since? Can also add the lightened bonnet and boot lid 18kg saving. So all added up, looks like near 100kg can be lost, equating to about 8.3% weight saving. I thought they weighed 1100kg which is why i asked about the 999kg possibility. Seeing the racing cerbera weighs 997kg, it therefore seems to make sense that a stock car weighs 1200kg.

So new target 1100kg smile

Impressed with your commitment

Not impressed that once you shell out over £700 for the battery, you need to spend another £200 for the mounting kit...
no mounting kit required thank god, the mounting kit is for porsche

Are the terminals the right way round for the cerb?
