Looking to buy my first Cerbera, anyone know P885 KON?
Discussion
Hi,
I’m looking to purchase my first Cerbera and any advice is welcome. I know it’s subjective, but I’ve was advised by a friend to go for a 4.2 over the 4.5 as it’s a nicer drive, is this good advice?
I’ve seen a ‘97 Cerbera for sale reg P885KON and wondered if anyone on here knows it’s history.
Lastly, it’s in High Wycombe and I’d like to take a TVR expert along with me to check for hidden issues a newbie would miss, do you have any contacts who would travel to that area for an inspection?
Thanks in advance,
Matt

Was it part of a car collection, or was it never reliable enough to use?
There are several pictures of the rear number plate, but none of the engine bay (let alone the underside)
It would be worth letting it idle on a summers day like this, for long enough to see the fans cycle on and off
It may have had a recent service, but did that include tappets?
Since it has hardly moved in 19 years, I expect there are a lot of consumables that will have perished and need replacing
That may well include head gaskets if the coolant hasn't been refreshed religiously
It does have engine bay and underside photos on their own website https://www.hillclimbgarage.co.uk/used-cars/999912...There are several pictures of the rear number plate, but none of the engine bay (let alone the underside)

Thanks again for all the advice, they let me put a fully returnable holding deposit down until I am free to get down and view it (hence the sold notice). Str8six are very busy at the moment, if any one knows a TVR specialist that would be willing to come down with myself (and Gruffalo) to take a look at it up on a ramp please let me know. I’m planning on going one afternoon weds - sat this week.

The right cars are selling, I was chatting to a dealer last week and they have sold two cars in the last couple of weeks.
I think the problem with this one is the very early Cerbera had an terrible reputation for poor build quality, that along with the lack of service history there are a few things that would put people off this one.
