Not exactly, but I was wondering if I bought a Cerb (been a dream for years) and threw a chequebook at it what the cost would be...

Thinking about a full refurb. Chassis, interior, engine and body.
4.7 upgrade. Etc. What would all of this look like...?

Sorry if a slightly silly post but I’ve few spanner skills and would love a cerbie but it’s have to be well sorted to start with.

Thanks in advance

Thanks chaps. Appreciate the comments and not too scary in truth. I’ve got a “slightly upgraded” bmw M4 at the moment which is biblically fast but maybe time for a change. Always loved the Cerb. Test drive a couple years ago but the timing was never right. Now I’m thinking that I’d love to have one but one that’s just right. Hence the slightly annoying thread title. It’s been a few years since I thought about this properly but the itch never leaves and maybe, just maybe, it needs a scratch.

Re the straight six, there are upgrades there to 4.3 and 4.5 which are as mental as the V8 so I’d never say never. But my heart was always the V8 (though the 4.2 I tested was way more brutal than the 4.5 so what do I know!!!)

Thanks again chaps. Food for thought.

A chap at my work until recently had an M4 upgraded to exceed the competition spec. Pushed out 520bhp and was noticeably faster than other M4s. Was still not quite as quick as a well set up 4.5 in terms of shove. There was not much contest in the corners mind, the M4 walked away, but so it should when all the TVR driver has is 90kg of meat to keep it on the black stuff.

Just a personal opinion, but I prefer knowing I got it right/wrong rather than having the car constantly rescue me from the edge without my knowledge.
I agree. Mine was 540 when last checked and if you’re driving like an ahole it’s the TC that is keeping you safe all of the time. Despite the BS that you read, they’re only spikey when you turn everything off which isn’t surprising in a RWD turbo car with boost turned up. And even then not that hard to control. Certainly not an organic experience though. Fast but quite “digital” too.

50k seems about right. Thanks all. Just need to decide whether I pull the trigger and then my back on my M4...and engage my mistress!

Those RR figures are impressive too.

Hi,
You're probably close to be right with that figure, maybe a little bit more but it all depends how far you'll go.
Looking at my example I've done everything people mentioned before plus a lot more( full body off resto, all seals, brake and fuel lines, brake calipers/rotorshandbrake cablebushes, bearings, nus/bolts, alloy rad, silicon hoses, wheels/tyres, fuel pump, staring rack and diff reconditioned,
Full retrim in alcantara, full respray, body mods, 4.7 engine but from a different engine builder Ferrari/Maserati, 6 speed gearbox etc.etc.)
I've spent close to £40k excluding donor car but in my case I've done the work myself except a few jobs like ( hot zinc spraying and powder coating of chassis, full stainless steel exhaust fabrication with valve control including ceramic coated manifolds, stand alone ECU installation and mapping, trimming and respray - I have prepared the car up to paint stage, adaptor plate and bespoke input shaft to my design)
The result : much more aggressive looking car that even purists like , sounds like nothing else and puts out 477.9 bhp ( position 13 on the Surrey RR day chart)
Oh and it only took me 2.5 years ??
Since I've finished I've done 3 European trips and almost 15k mls

Sounds impressive. Well done. I saw the TVaserati in the RR pics. The wider track looks cool. And really aggressive. That engine is a peach too.
