I have just had a fairly new expansion tank fail at the seam

I have also noticed since it's still very clear that there is a significant flow of coolant from one or both of the coolant rail hoses in to the expansion tank when the engine is revved - is that normal?

I'm wondering whether this is related to the failure

It failed on the seam at the side that goes along the wing

Full disclosure: I did remove the triangle at the end of the wing side seam nearest the front of the car, this was probably a mistake

I was intending to hold on to it in order to get a £16 refund from EuroCarParts, but I'm not going to bother now since I've just realised that the modification will have nullified the warranty

Anyway trying to claim £16 back for something that has caused consequential losses over 100 times that seems petty to say the least

I will take some photos though

On the plus side, I don't think I have head gasket failure again which was my initial fear

Split at the seam.
Thanks, sounds like there was a bad batch, I've decided to carry a spare in the boot

after John's comments, I checked the Wiper Panel fitment and the cap they supplied won't fit yikes
There may be room to move the bracket nearer the bulkhead
