What's the prevailing wisdom amongst those that have done body-offs? Bearing in mind the squeeze/twist upon refitting, but also the newer materials now available.
1. Rivet heat-reflective mats to the inside of the tunnel (as per OE).
2. Drape a tailored 'blanket' over the backbone of the chassis.
3. As 1 or 2 but with modern embossed malleable sheets. Inside or outside the chassis?
4. Other.
Appreciate your enlightened advice!
Rik

I went with number 2.
I saw a pic of one somewhere (but can't find it now rolleyes ) ...might have been yours? ...or possibly on a Chimera, but it looked a great idea.
Did you find one 'off the shelf', or have it made to your pattern? Did you secure it to the chassis, or does it just stay put due to its 'innate snugness'? (like my clothes laugh)

Thanks everyone for all your suggestions.
I wasn't aware that ChimeraPartsOnline did Cerbera parts... laugh
I have in mind to make my own one-piece chassis 'blanket', but will probably buy their bulkhead reflector as it's quite a complex 3D shape. Mine looks exactly like theirs, but I will ask the question, thanks for the heads-up.

Thanks Paul,
That is exactly the sort of thing I've been looking for, but still not the one I've previously seen pics of.
I have a good local upholsterer who has already made me new inner wing reflectors (this cloth from Raceparts)

so I will ask him about 'running-up' a chassis blanket.
My only reservation is in securing it at the lower edges, as I have a morbid hated of plastic zip-ties... hurllaugh
But the alternative, lining the tunnel as per OE, involves tens of rivets into the tub which I don't much like either! (I know, First World problems!)
Do you have more pics/ a link to Simon's build?
Cheers,
Rik

That's a shame, I'll have to rely on you to copy and paste for me then, Paul!

Ummm, when you say "plastic tie raps"
Do you mean "plastic" or "tie raps"
Coz they come in Stainless
Wraps even wink
I just think they scream, "I'm a kit car".
Sure, they have their uses, but IMHO they look awful on a chassis, so I'm exploring alternatives.

I used DEI floor and tunnel shield too, it’s slimline has a glass fibre backing and an aluminium top layer so should be super durable... works pretty well. If you go this route buy it from summit in the USA it’s soooo much cheaper.
Lovely job!

Hi Paul.
Rather than washers there is a shim plate available that many have fitted to 'lift' the starter and thereby give a tad more clearance in the meshing of the pinion and the ring gear.
When this was being discussed a while (years) back I made the mistake of buying one from the specialist starter motor place mentioned on here, and I was shocked at the rubbish quality; it looked as though it had been cut out by a gorilla with a gas-axe. I've subsequently bought one of Peter Esslings, which is as neat as a pin. If he doesn't have any ready, and you're in a rush, I could pop one in an envelope for you... just say.
Best,
Rik
Best pic I can do atm, they're in the 4th crate down!
Pete's is the one behind.

Don't know, I've not fitted one yet Paul!
But 'trade tips'... Superglue or grease it to bellhousing....? Elastic band it to the starter, snip and pull band out once both bolts are started...?
