Im going to be buying an Adventador S next week and wondered what folks do with the front number plate on these?

I know some people dont bother to put them on (the same goes for the likes of Ferrari etc), and just wondered if they attract a lot of bother from the police, and if so, is a cursory telling off, or are they hot on issuing points and penalties these days?

Just feels rude to put a plate on the front and ruin the look. Thanks in advance, Lord B.

"If anything it takes me back to secondary school where all the kids who fancied themselves as a bit of a rebel would tie their school tie backwards so the fat end was tucked away but the thin side was hanging down," lol - i remember that well.

Why would you not put a number plate on. Everyone has to ? so why would you not.?
I just think it spoils the look somewhat.

Stick on plate or plate in the window?

I thought the dealer had a duty of care to ensure a vehicle left their premises in a roadworthy state? I'd refer the police back to them. Incidentally what do the MoT testers make of it?
That's worse than being on the front of the car IMHO. Hate it when I see plates on dashboards thinking it looks cooler. Same about stick on ones on the side of the bodywork
agreed

I think the fine is 100 quid and a rectification order. So whilst the fine is small change to the average supercar owner, you could be had up in court if you persistently failed to do anything about it.
Probably true. I like a gamble!

There are so few traffic police about that you could probably drive about for ages before anyone said anything.

In all seriousness I'd keep your front plate in the car and say it was on the dash but it fell off when you gave it some stick or something.
  1. thanks - thats the plan.

blimey - a bit OTT.

To be fair - i think the law is grey on this area. ie if its unsafe to put one on (given it could fly off and hurt someone) then you dont need one right? The front of the Avent S is curved with no obvious place for it

i lke that, but with the new aventadors s's, there is no space for it to go like that.

On a recent Lambo convoy pretty much none of us had front plates, as we met up at service station an Aventador was followed in by a cop car and he was fined for the 3rd time this year for no front plate £100, then the cop slowly drove past all of us I thought he would just blanket fine us all, but just passed us all by, either he has to chatch you driving or he'd had his fill and was done!!
The current system is a joke, quite clearly £100 is nothing to someone driving an Aventador. They should really make the fine tied to your wage, or even the value of the car. Or make it maybe 1-3 points

Just get a stick on one if you need to. Nobody is going to bother you for this even if its technically not legal.

Would you mind not raising this / suggesting that they link the fine to wages!?!? It could become quite painful...should I ever get caught.
indeed. Its a stupid idea that the Swiss implemented. What next, a rich person to get a bigger prison sentence for stabbing someone, because he should have known better and didnt have the justification that he had a troubled childhood etc etc? A crime is a crime regardless of who did it (and therefore the sentence should be equal), be that the king or the pauper - hence the creation of the rule of law.

I think that if you're caught driving without a front numberplate the police should make you attach it to the car with self-tapping screws there and then.
And there's me thinking the police should focus on islamist terrorism, grooming gangs, Gang/knife crime and the sort....

I think the police would much rather been focusing on that sort of stuff, which they could do if ALL people obeyed the rules and didn't think they should be treated differently because it suits them and the rest of the population can go fk themselves!
Would you obey all the rules, regardless of their purpose and moral value? If the government told you to inform them of any Jews living next door to them, would you do it? I guess you would... ?

Dont let governments define your moral compass - they dont have a great track record.....

Ive not run a front plate for 20 years or so on various cars and been pulled 4 times and only the last incident was it a problem, in Wales on the Evo Triangle where fuzz decided to make an example of us and even made it into the local rag.

Incidentally, one of us had a small plate, also a £100 fine.

Incidentally, I had it in the screen (when I saw them coming up behind) but that wasn’t good enough. £100 fine

I’ve owned my FGT 10 yrs now and never had a plate and never pulled. There is physically no where to put it

Purposefully took the front plate off my car today leaving the holder in place specifically to test if the Sainsbury’s ANPR sign would flash up with end of free parking if it couldn’t read a plate.

Was stuck behind a Police car for the journey there and wasn’t pulled.

FYI - Sainsbury’s don’t read the rear number plate on entry (only on exit) so if you don’t have a front plate you can stay as long as you like.
So did you need assistance on getting out of the car park? That is, some car park Read front plate for entry and exit, so without a plate the barrier won’t open ?

Meanwhile in Wales :

I drive to Wales regularly so may just put the plate on the dash board for the boyos- I’m assuming no one has issues with it on the dash board ?
