Porsche and Lamborghini seem quite happy to show what their cars can do in the real World by taking on the Ring whereas some of the competition seem scared that they might reveal they are not as quick as suggested.

Any thoughts ?

that's all there is to it imo
I've always wondered why Ultima/Radical never went there though, they could set some fast times
You would think that Ferrari would want to show what the Pista can do! After all their DNA and current F1 position is all about the technical capability to be the fastest around a circuit!

You must have missed the Radical SR8 (road legal) that ran under 6:50 years ago.......
I was aware of that one but really see an SR8 with plates lights and indicators as a race car,not really a main stream sports car manufacturer. Maybe the RCX would be a better comparison, I know if people who do drive these on the road and one as a daily yikes

Why would Ferrari bother going there? What would Ferrari gain in relation to sales? It's home soil for Porsche and Audi/Lamborghini who are always under the Ferrari brand.
I think the halo car in each segment can effect sales on the generic car,eg if Pista is the hottest thing it might win over people considering a 488 vs other brand. Although they are not buying a Pista they are effectively buying into that club.

Probably the same with all brands, LT Macs RS Porches Lamborghini SV and Perfas, these all give extra qudos to the more mundane models if we can call them that.Everyone likes to think there part of the trickiest ,quickest club in town!

Why should Ferrari bother with F1,there’s no similarity between a 488 and F1 car, I just guess there in it to win it! Nobody remembers who came second other than JLS and Olly Murrs

For Enzo, I believe that it was the other way around.
He only did road cars to pay for the race cars.
He did indeed but cant see that working nowdays
