Making the most of my new F355

Hi chaps,

First time poster, first time Ferrari owner, and, believe it or not, first time car owner (live primarily in London, so never had the need!).

Lifetime dream now achieved with the purchase of my F355 (pics below), and now gotta figure out what to do with it - other than the obvious

I'm keen to get a bit involved with the "scene", but not sure about where the best place is to find out about meets, shows, etc., whether it's worthwhile joining the FOC, or anything like that.

Also NB the car lives in East Anglia, so particularly interested in anything that goes on in that neck of the woods.

Anyway, any tips from owners of similar, be great to hear!

First insurance quote my jaw hit the floor, but eventually got a decent one (helps that have a lot of history driving a Porsche 996, albeit I didn't own it). Running costs... well time will tell, but looked a long time for a car that has already been through all the "inevitables" - plus had a lot of expert help! Couple of hundred quid on independent inspections works out as a bargain I reckon...

There are loads of faster cars now but it is simply epic and you can have fun on the road at speeds that wont leave you at risk of a spot of porridge or sampling those new means tested speeding fines. Can’t really say the running costs are reasonable but it has never broken down and i have done 50000 miles in mine over the years and many of them rate as my best driving times. From my experience breakfast club meets are a great way to meet and Prescott and Shesley are both good and whilst they are probably a couple of hundred mile round trips, there are worst ways to spend 6 to 9 am on a Sunday morning.

Absolutely - on a nice B road you can push it close to its limits with little difficulty, and still be rewarded with full supercar "drama". The balance is just perfect - I'd imagine any earlier and maybe a bit underpowered, and any later either a bit too quick or too "polished" / well engineered (though those things are great if that's what you're looking for).

For me it is the most "Ferrari-ish" Ferrari, which is complex multi-faceted thing (looks + performance + noise + exoticism + character + rawness + Italianness) - what more can you ask than that, even with a million quid?

Great shout re the breakfast clubs, exactly the type of thing I'm keen to do.

I owned a red GTS for nearly four years, sold it just before the prices rocketed! I was a member of the FOC in east anglia, very friendly/welcoming. They are very pretty cars with an awesome sound, I organised a run-out several years ago heading to Southwold and got 14 ferraris, 4 lambos and a few strays! I'm doing one next year if you're around? Great fun!
