I'm normally pretty good at being able to know what model designations most Ferraris are, but one at Goodwood had me slightly stumped. It was in the paddock on Friday morning.

The front was 250GTO, the rear 250SWB. It was dark blue with the reg 4HP.

I'm guessing it's a one-off on a 250 chassis, but can someone confirm that?

I didn't get a chance to get a photo.

It was, however, gorgeous :cloud9:

Hmmm, thanks for the link, but I'm not so sure it was a series 2.

It's bum was very rounded (like the SWB).

Anyone else??

Just found this on FerrariChat.com

Hello

I just asked a friend in the UK who sent me these infos:

"That is Anthony Bamford's car. I think it was red for a very short time but it is dark blue now and was almost from new. You will find the story in Classic & Sportscar April 95".

"The car is based a shortened 400i chassis and was conceived as a '65
GTO'. I believe it was designed by Chris Hampson (the then owner) and
Chris Major, with the chassis frame work by Brian Wingfield (DRL
Engineering) and the body by GP Metalcraft. The car in the mag was
registered 4HP".

"Hampson was not the owner as I thought then. The job was commissioned by Bamford and I think Hampson worked in his (i.e. the JCB) factory".

Thanks to xx for these infos.

Just have to be registered. In fact, the only reason I'm registered on FerrariChat is to access links from Pistonheads
