How much tyre tread?

The rear of my maserati is getting a bit lively in the wet. Tread depth is 3-4mm. when would you guys change the tyres?

They are 8mm new. I looked up a tyre site who stated that at 3mm in the wet it added 16% to the stopping distance over a new tyre.

Anyway changed them today.

I used Black Circle, reasonable price but the first outlet I chose couldnt fit anything below 50 profile so they suggested another. When I got there, they had to take the wheels/tyres to ATS round the corner because they didnt have the "love beads" to do the job.
Difficult to get 35 profile on because they dont flex very well.
