Hi everyone, I hope you are all well.
After the great success of last years toy run I am please to let you all know that this years event will be held on Saturday 8th December 2012. I am just waiting for a reply from the JR and Chase Guildford that this date is ok and I will then get the ball rolling. So this is just a heads up.
It would be great to see you all supporting this event once again.

Many thanks

OK guys here we go.
I have now had the replys I was waiting for and its now all go. Both the JR Childrens hospital and Chase hospice in Guildford have said they would be delited to be involved in this years event. so we are all set to start.

The event will start at the Ace Cafe in London from 7am onwards and we will be looking to leave there at 10:30am sharp. We will then head over to oxford for the first drop then over to Guildford for the final part of the day. Further details will be put up closer to the date.

Now the aim of this event is to deliver toys to the children that will be spending time away from home over the Christmas festivities. With the children ranging from birth to late teens we need a cross selection of toys to cover the age ranges so please think of this when chosing your gift/gifts. The Chase Hospice will be emailing me a list of ideas that came forward for those not 100% sure on what to get soonce i have this email i will let you know what's on it.
Last year we saw some amazing toys given over and even a large toy company got involved and donated a few thousand pounds worth of toys which really struck home how thourtfull people are at this time of year. All I ask is every little counts and no matter how large or small your gifts are the smiles from the children are all the thanks we need.

I will be giving you all regular updates as we get closer to the date and I look forward to seeing the lists of people attending grow week by week.
Don't forget to check the main event page over at http://www.fueltopia.co.uk/events/fueltopia-and-fr...

Cheers
Iain

Guys i had an email yesterday from one of last years toy run drivers with this heart breaking news.

I have just received the heart breaking news that my friends son who was a patient at the CHASE hospice passed away yesterday, just after his 5th birthday.

His father thanked me personally after last years run and explained how vital the hospice was for his family. His sons condition was such that there was no chance of recovery, all they could do was make the short time he had as happy and pain free as possible. Although the hospice does see a handful of miracle recoveries most of the children will not live to adulthood.

So please, even if you can't make it on the day, think about donating a gift and passing it on to someone who is going to take along for you.

V8Smith if I remember rightly last year was all over around 5-5:30pm Last year they laid on tea and coffee and some lovely cakes that the staff made for us.

So not long now guys and I think everyone I have spoken to is getting really excited about this years run and its great to see a few new guys joining us this year.
It seems the kids are going to do well again this year with people emailing me saying they have been collecting from there work places and there friends so a big thank you to them for really getting into the spirit of things.

NOTE... Those of you not wishing to follow the route from the JR to the RV point at the PUB are welcome to make there own way there and they will be expecting us from around 2pm. We will have to leave the Pub at 3pm sharp to allow us time to get through the Saturday traffic in Guildford traffic.

Cheers

So with just a week to go before we hit the road for this fantastic event I have been so pleased with how people are getting behind what we are all doing. I have been getting emails and messages from people saying that they have had whip rounds at work and are off to spend the £400 they managed to collect and others asking how big can the gifts be? Well all I can say is thank you all so much. All I ask for now is a dry bright day. It would be so nice to see as many Christmas decorated cars turn up as possible. Im off out to get a few bits next week for the car to make it sparkle. If you have any questions please ask and I will do my best to answer them otherwise see you all on the 8th.

Just a quick question, perhaps being daft, but should the gifts be wrapped?
No not a daft question. I have been asked to tell people not to wrap there gifts only so the staff can see what is for a boy or girl.

DOH! I have wrapped up 5 bags of donated toys!!!!! BUT on each there is a tag discreetly saying B / G and age range. Genius. I have also had £300+ donated from friends and family via my Facebook page, going shopping for prezzies ASAP.
Hey don't worry about the wrapping paper its cool. So good to hear that even people not attending are still getting involved and donating their hard earned money thinks guys.

I am sure it will look awesome. I done the same yesterday with some very bright colours.
Look forward to seeing it. Last year I lost some of my tinsel on the M40, the soft top behind me caught most of it lol.

I am really looking forward to this..

My name is on the FuelTopia site, my work have provided me with tons of presents, and my 19month year old (who entered this world at the JR!) has her santa outfit.

Now to decorate the P1!

One more silly question - what happens to the presents - do we hand them all over to the staff - or do we divide them up between the JR and Chase beforehand?

I only ask as I can only make the meet to the JR part of the run.
Hello mate. It is up to you how you devide them up. Some of the staff from the JR will come down to the main lobby with some of the children that are well enough to leave the children's wards. I only ask people to do what they can and the fact you are able to only do the JR stage is still fantastic.
