The Knackered Old Porsches Meet - June'ish
Discussion
Following on from the conversation over on Readers Cars and the surprising amount of interest in a meet up to discuss all things broken on a variety of 996s... I thought it best to start a thread so we can get an idea of just how many are interested in this sort of thing
I'll propose June'ish but not the weekend of the 10th/11th for obvious reasons!
Lets see how much parking we need and we can work out a venue from there, but to make that easier a rough location would be good.
I'll kick things off:
1: Poppopbangbang - Midlands.
Update!!!!!
Tickets available to buy here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/caffeinemachine-wee...
The date is: Saturday the 24th June - 9AM - 12PM
Having spoken to Caffeine and Machine they are happy to accommodate us in "The Yard".
Looking forward to meeting you all in person!

The Yard @ Caffeine&Machine
Come and celebrate all moving things, at our home where all are welcome. Caffeine&Machine exists as a meeting place for anyone who has a fondness for machines, and it doesn’t matter what.
The days at C&M are split into hourly arrival slots and we have plenty of tables for all to enjoy the sites and sounds of the Yard. Entry on Saturday & Sunday can be pre booked with 50% of your ticket redeemable on food and beverage or if we have space in the Yard it is £5 on the door. Please pre book to guarantee your space.
Your ticket gets you access to the Yard within a 15-minute grace period either side the arrival time. So, if your arrival time is 11am, you can access the Yard between 10.45am and 11.15am. This is to give you a buffer for traffic on the way, but we recommend you plan your arrival time carefully.
We will have our online food and drink system firing on all cylinders and the food service times are below:
Breakfast menu – 9am-11.30am
Main menu – 12.30pm-9:30pm
We can’t wait to see you in the Yard.
C&M operate on a ticket basis which can be purchased online here: https://caffeineandmachine.com/yard-tickets/, tickets for the June weekend will be released mid-may and I'll update here once they are available for everyone to book as required. What's this about beer. I dont wanna be all high and mighty but surely a car meet should involve no boozing.
Well I was expecting it to be three of us in a conveniently middle distance pub car park hence consider it a turn of phrase...... it seems I better work out a good location for this, with a burger van at the bare minimum What's this about beer. Firstly, Wow! I was not expecting this level of response to something which started with a single comment on a thread about a particularly knackered old Porsche
By my totting up I make it four from London, 12 from the Midlands, 3 from the North West, 10 from the South East and 2 from the South West and one unknown. Which brings us on to where to actually hold this?
An obvious one is somewhere around the Northampton area making it equidistant for the majority but that rather leaves those heading down from the North with a bit of a journey to do. Alternatively we could go more Central/East midlands to knock 45 mins to an hour off the journey for those coming down from the North.
Some obvious choices for Northants/Mids are:
- The Super Sausage Cafe - an old PH meet haunt from days gone by. www.http://supersausagecafe.co.uk/
- British Motor Museum - just used for PH Sunday Service. https://www.britishmotormuseum.co.uk/
- Caffeine&Machine - Never a bad option. https://caffeineandmachine.com
More options welcome! With 30+ of us that's enough bacon rolls sold for most places to put up with us
Finally the date, how's the last weekend in June 24th/25th for everyone?

Perusing the C&M website (actually for their Le Mans event), it seems Yard tickets for the 24th June are available.
That weekend is a “Low and Slow” low-rider celebration, apparently, so rejoice those with M030? Maybe.
They are indeed! That weekend is a “Low and Slow” low-rider celebration, apparently, so rejoice those with M030? Maybe.
I don't think the "Low And Slow" aspect will get in our way at 9AM From speaking to them that seems to be expected to be an evening thing.... but you never know
