dont know if this has ever been suggested but does anyone fancy meeting up and putting names to faces and then show ourselves up at a kart race somewhere?
most places do hire kart races and there are enough cicruits around.

ok, anyone still interested?, we then choose the circuit closest or most convienient for everyone which I guess will be Whilton Mill in Northampton or Daytona in Milton Keynes.......i guess!......I think most places charge about £40 for a one hour endurance race......

www.karting.co.uk

pretty much the only website you ever need will! its very comprehensive with links to classes, shops, championships and drivers webpages.

I have done the inter university kart championship for two years, i havent raced proper clubbie stuff.

I am currently rebuilding a two stroke rotax to play around with in the summer so if you fancy getting together for a day testing somewhere I would be more than happy to bring it along. At the moment it is having some engine work but should be good for 80 mph and 5-60mph (no clutch) in less than four seconds! Whereabouts are you?

LOON! Fancy giving me a hand organising this!

Once we get a few details maybe ted can give us a bit of help publicising it and I'm sure we can get thirty people willing to put their driving standards on show for an afternoon!

hello!
yes this karting thing is still going to take place. I think for simplicity we will use Daytona @ Milton Keynes which will mean that most people will have a bit of a journey, some longer than others!.....
Do we organise it for a day later in the year or do we risk the weather, personally i say we do it as soon as possible, MK is a great circuit in the wet or dry.
I will be back with prices etc soon.
Does anyone have a perfernce for format, endurance, one man enduro's or granp prix "heat" style events. I know the one hour one man events are good fun, from memory its 10 min practice, a 10 min qualigfying session and a 40 min race.
Over to you guys.......any takers?

fear not james you are on the provisional list!
no longer a student so the iukc is out, i have had a few "run ins" with laurie this year too so tend to keep UWE stuff to a minimum now unfortunately, still bigger projects await! might even order a caterham this year

Loon, any particular dates, afternoon or evening (floodlit!) race?. shall we just choose a date and see how many make it, was there a maximum or minimum number of entries. I'd like to do a sprint but a mini enduro might make for more entertainment!

Loon: ok, i guess we choose a date then, if you spoke to someone specific would you mind calling Daytona again?, or pass the details on and I will call them.
I agreee with Ted regarding the format and the dates, any saturday afternoon between 9th Feb and the 16th of March should be before the race season starts again...err how about March 2nd to give people some notice to reaarange what ever else they had planned

How do we sort out the deposit........I can email my mobile number if you need it.

Hello

can all those interested please forward your deposit to loon as soon as possible. send me or loon an email and we will tell you where to send the deposit.

There are still some places left for this prestigious event though ITV have confirmed they will not be televising it. Likewise the FIA have confirmend it will not be a sanctioned event and will therefore not count towards your superlicense applications.

cheers

Glad enthusiasm is still high, i have no idea if there is a reserve list of drivers. If anyone else has had to retire from the event please put a message up and maybe we can fill the spaces with reserve drivers.
There are some directions further down this thread or you could try www.daytona.co.uk
look forward to seeing you all on saturday!

clearly ITV have their cameras at the wrong race this weekend! I have roped in my girlfriend as chief photographer so there will be a record of the days events......or pictures of sky and tarmac!
