OK, I can take a hint, it's the second week in September and I've not posted anything!!!!

LB Beer-n-Meet II will be of a week-day evening towards the end of September. I'm looking at three possible dates: Monday 22nd, Wednesday 24th or Monday 29th. Can anyone interested please let me know which date(s) suit them best.

Location wise, I'm pondering on either the Flying-Fox (just off the A5 at the Heath and Reach roundabout). Anyone been there and comment on what it's like? Or Grove Lock (just off the LB bypass not far from the last place).

If you feel strongly, tell me which one, or I'll just pick myself!

Edited to add: The intention is to hold these meets monthly. If I pick a date or day which doesn't suit you this time, let me know and I'll try to fit the next one round you (eg this time I'm deliberately picking a Mon or Wed to suit rsi1974). I am, of course, open to bribery (financial or alcoholic).

the only thing with Grove Lock is if you've got a low car you need to take the speed humps at an angle to save grounding - good pub otherwise!

Thanks for that, I've never driven there, 'cos it's about 15 min walk along the canal from where I live, so we tend to walk there, stagger back!!

I'll pop into the FF tonight to check the parking. Hare & Hounds had a pretty small car-park which is why I'm looking for a new home

....as another aside....can't some of you lot come up to Bedford?

Suggest a few pubs between LB and Bedford for Mrs Sheepy and I to do some "research" at, and I'll consider it for a future meet.

Morning all,

Date, place and time have now been fixed. Appologies to anyone this doesn't suit as I did promise to ensure this meet was held when some who couldn't make the first one would be available.

When: Monday 22nd September @ 7.30pm

Where: Flying Fox just off the A5 south of Milton Keynes

Blame me if you can't make it, blame FWD if the pub isn't any good

I was thinking more of localish meets ...where could be at LB one month....Bedford the next...and further South the next....as in spread it around.

Come along on the 22nd and we can all talk about it then. I'm happy to arrange things as long as someone can recommend good places to meet.

Sheepy

Edited to add: Alternatively arrange a meet local to where you are yourself. After all, that's all I did!

Do you think you'll be there til closing time or just for an hour or so? I'm unlikely to be there til around 8....

I'll be there all evening. Nothing like a beer and a natter about cars to fill a few hours. At the last one, Tony and Oggs didn't arrive until just after 9pm, so don't worry about being "late"

the only reason i may not be able to go is if my boss decides to send me to watford for training, shouldnt be that late though...

We'll be there all night. Even if you have to go, Watford isn't that far away!! There's no excuses for you this time

Looks like I might have to have a slight diversion on the way...
Hockiffe to woburn Rd then to the Flying Fox

Well it is on the way from Dunstable
What do you reckon Tony?? or Rich??

better idea:

From Dunstable, head up to Toddington on the A5120. At the Church in Toddington, turn left onto Park Road towards Toddington Manor / Milton Bryan. At Milton Bryan, turn right on the A4012 toward Woburn. in Woburn, turn left onto Leighton Road and follow until you hit the Flying Fox just before the A5.

The back way from Toddington to Milton Bryan has some lovely straights and very twisty bits Only problem is if you get stuck behind a numpty, but they're usually doing 30 , so passing isn't an issue.

Edited to add a few maps to show where I mean for those who aren't from round these parts

Sheepy since you're such a good route planner....
could you get a bigger map posted of Woburn...and the Flying Fox in the same pic

Coming up that direction to-day, spotted a turn-off to the left 1.5 miles to Potsgrove just after Woburn Safari park entrance (which was on the right) - so I'm assuming that's the one to go up

Does this help

If not, look at the map of Woburn in the posting for Oggs, I've placed the arrow over the turning to take in Woburn.

Couple of notable things in LB this morning on the way to work:

1 - Grey C reg Jag XJS with a PH sticker on display!!!!!! In years of membership only the second i've seen on the road by chance. Spotted on the Hockliffe Road roundabout

OI, grey?...Grey?...GREY? That's metallic "winter steel blue" And a right bastard it was to match for respraying. Grey? FFS, might as well just have used flipping dulux

On a more serious note, yes that was Jaggy with yours truely occupying the pilot's seat!

I've been spotted. Hey Ted, do I get a rebate for the free advertising?

Sheepy

Edited to add: Thanks to FWD and BigTone for taking over the mapping role whilst I slept!!

Condor : I think most will nosh beforehand. If you want pie there, then be aware we'll want to pinch your chips

Detomaso : Come along. Paul2000 and other come from "down that way". Ignore Trouser1212, he's just bitter because someone keeps parking in front of his garage. I'm hoping for a bigger turnout this time, like you said people are wary of a new meet, but we're on our second

If Tony and Oggs manage to follow my directions without getting lost, I may think about organising a weekend run later in the year. What do you lot think of that (constructive comments only)

Trouser's not coming 'cos I'm going to get a mate to block his car inside his garage.

I may pop along for a bit. Seems a shame to organise it and not turn up

Well, it's looking like this meet will be a bit more successful than the last one. I've lost count of who's said they're attending or not.

Hopefully a monday night means the FF will be pretty empty, and the PH group will be immediately obvious to everyone. If you're in any doubt, then FWD's advice from the first one stands: Stand at the bar shouting PIE...PIE whilst striking yourself repeatedly on the head with your fist. If nothing else, should make sure we have to find a different location for the next meet!!!
