Good morning/evening to one and all.

My dilemma is that I am rebuilding a cylinder head on an Opel Zafira.

The workshop manual says "Code numbers on camshaft bearing caps must match those on cylinder head." .......... unfortunately there are no stamps on the cylinder head and I mixed the caps up.

Would any of you kind gentlemen know in which order to put these things back?

Infinite thanks in advance for any assistance!

All the best,

Martin

Put them back to the same locations you took them off.
stevieturbo, thanks for chipping in but that's the problem, I didn't note where they came from because the workshop manual led me to believe that they would be matched with numbers on the head as you can see from the diagram below.

The caps are stamped 0, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 & 8 and I'm trying to find where they go.

It should be simple to identify where each cap came from by examining how the split lines match up with the ones in the head and also how the line boring or honing marks inside the journals align from the cap to the other half of the bore. Hopefully once you found which end of the head number 0 came from and which way round then all the others will follow suit.
Thanks Mignon (how come someone with such a French name writes such brilliant English?), I was heading towards the same avenue, which I suppose could be called 'forensic mechanics'. I already have my torch and magnifying glass set out!
