Managed to pull my leaking injector from my Peugeot 307 diesel. I was hoping the seal would come out with the injector, which it didn't. Anyway, took a look down the hole with the use of a torch, and there's no seal down there what so ever! not even a fragment!!

Questions-

If there "was" a seal down there, is it possible for the seal to disintegrate? if so, could the bits have caused any damage?

The plastic spacer was a bit clogged up but ok. I'm thinking it was repaired/replaced some time and someone forgot to put in a seal (washer).

[quote=paintman]Be very sure that the seal is missing & not just stuck at the bottom of the hole.
It can sometimes be very difficult to see them if the area is covered in the black gunge associated with a failed seal.

Everything, including the injector, has been cleaned. There was definitely no sign of a seal down there.
