Im confused as to whether an intercooler helps all the time or only after a few spirited runs when the standard one would heatsoak.

Basically my car is recently remapped by a well known company and making more power than usual, its not as quick as i thought it would be but i have yet to fit the new intercooler (it can run on a standard car so not a safety issue)

My question is, if i was pootling around for 10 mins warming up the engine, is it possible on a warm day the stock intercooler would already be heatsoaking and when i go to give it its first w.o.t it would be making less power than if the new cooler was fitted? Or would a standard intercooler only heatsoak after a couple of w.o.t runs?

Basically im wondering if the intercooler will help make more power in this warm weather, or if its just going to help when im blasting it about for 30 minutes?

More intercooler, more cooler?

I'd imagine that a larger / improved intercooler would improve performance in both instances.
I just thought it didnt heatsoak until you have floored it a couple of times but im hoping im wrong and there is more performance to extract by switching coolers.

New one is quite a bit bigger.

If you want to know what temperature you're getting downstream of the charge cooler, measure it. It isn't rocket science.
I was just asking a question, im not going to sit there buying tools to measure inlet temperatures and datalog it all.

If its silver painting it black, with the appropriate paint, will improve its performance.
Even though black absorbs heat? Hehe. I know your joking.
