My 2010 hateful sack of st Peugeot 3008 1.6 diesel has pulled another fast one on me.

Driving back from work this evening, I was accelerating to 70mph when an orange triangle lit up on the dashboard, along with the engine warning light flashing. The screen on the centre console flashed two messages (along the lines of these anyway):

"Repair Engine: Check handbook"
"DPF filter clogged"

The last one didn't mention anything about risk of clogging, it said it was clogged.

Now this is the first time it's happened. I drive it daily, have done since when I bought it in 2014. Driving is mixed, 30mph to 70mph. I've never had this error message before.

The car, however, didn't go in to limp mode. Which is odd. Even when I stopped at a junction I wasn't restricted. At the junction I revved the engine hard (as I thought, if it's blocked it might be good to clear it) and a load of black smoke came out the back. It isn't constantly black, just when I really over rev the engine.

When I pulled up at home, to take a photo of the error message, it had gone. I hadn't turned the engine off at all, but the errors had vanished.

Has anyone had a similar experience like this with the 1.6HDi engine? 90% sure it's the FAP one.
