Can only find two hoses online which were purchased and they are different to the original, the bayonet fitting end of the original is at 90 degrees to the hose

New hoses have approximately 60 degree bends

These are the numbers of Gates hoses that don't fit 3847 and 3843

Peugeot 306 1.9 Diesel Phase 2 August 1997

Engine is DJY (XUD9A)

Does anyone know of another hose that will do the job

Thank you in advance

Surely you just bend it a bit?
Thanks, tried bending it, puts too much strain on the fitting which causes the O Ring seal to leak, hose becomes too short, also out of shape which could restrict flow

It's a Gates 3847A.
Thanks, now found the Gates catalogue, 3847A doesn't give a result

Engine is DJY (XUD9A)

Engine search gives 64 results which includes 11 hoses, yet 3847A isn't one of them

Can't suggest any alternative sources, but in terms of getting that one to fit I've seen people use external formers to hold a shape in a hose. If that leaves the hose too short, perhaps you could cut it on one the the straight sections and insert a short tube.

The right hose would obviously be preferable.
Thanks, great idea

Will wait and see if anyone comes along with the correct hose and if not will get cutting extending and shaping

There is a used hose on ebay that looks identical, thing is want a new one

You can buy silicone hoses in pieces, corners, angles etc... from places like Demon Tweeks, so you could measure exactly what you need, cut the bayonet joiner off the new (or old) hose and make a new pipe from a few silicone pieces with alloy joiners.

https://www.demon-tweeks.com/uk/motorsport/engine/...

I did this for the entire cooling system on my kit car, with a load of pieces and alloy tubes and whatnot from Auto Silicone Hoses:

Thank you for the links and suggestions

The ones I'm thinking of were branded Unicoil.
Thank you, just viewed some

My parts catalogue gives a result and so did Google and Ebay. The pic shows a 90 degree end on it.
Thank you, this is great news

Will you kindly post me some links as I can't find an advert with images and it doesn't show in the Gates online catalogue

Ebay is good enough for me

Stupid question I know
Have you tried pugeot for the part
There is no Peugeot parts network with old car stock in Greece, doubt any Peugeot dealers in Europe stock hoses for a 22 year old car but even if they did wouldn't be able to view them

I presume this is a tech error on Gates' behalf, as there's nothing similar in the 306 at all.

I have seen problems with hoses where the engines were shared between Peugeot/Citroen and the hose layout was different, but with the same part numbers, but again that's not happening here as the Xsara's hose layout is completely different, with expansion takeoffs on the bottom hose...

How odd!

This SASIC one looks OK though: https://www.onlinecarparts.co.uk/sasic-7725842.htm...
Thank you very much for your time and the link

The Sasic hose does look to be correct

Will take a chance and order it

Wish there was a way of having a hose checked before ordering, that would be too easy

Will report back when it arrives

Peugeot may be able to give you the part number relevant to your VIN.

I have access to their servicebox - and the drawings of the hoses shown do look like your original - so if you want to let me have your vin I'll have a look & see what comes up.
The Sasic listing from Krikkit also shows a part cross-reference to Peugeot's part number 1351X4 which shows on servicebox for the XUD9.
VIN sent by PM

Thank you once again

If by any chance there is a list of parts used for the build of this vehicle it will come in very handy in the future, wouldn't want you wasting time on it though, only if easily done

Internet images are a big problem as can be seen here https://www.buycarparts.co.uk/search?keyword=1351x...

The Gates 3847 looks close in the above webpage but is nothing like

I believe you can sign up for the PSA servicebox as a public user now - absolutely brilliant for finding parts for any of their cars, with lovely exploded diagrams easily to hand.

http://public.servicebox.peugeot.com/

As noted, there aren't many diesel variants of the 306, looking through them all there's no alternate part number - I think Gates have just made an error in that particular part. I bet quite a few have been fitted and bodged into place.

You have a PM.

Krikkit gives the link to the PSA servicebox which you would need to sign up for to access.
I signed up to it several years ago - I'm trade anyway but the family fleet comprised an assortment of 205, 306 & 307 Peugeots over the years!
The help from both of you and others suggestions is much appreciated

paintman, viewed the PM and replied

Krikkit, as you mention, looks like errors made and others have copied

Servicebox won't let me in, ticking the public box at stage 1 sends me on to stage 2 of the registration that sends me back to stage 1 after a loading symbol going round and round for a while

Would have been nice to get in

Have a good day

New Sasic hose arrived on Wednesday and is the correct shape

Thank you very much Krikkit

Thank you to all others that tried to help, especially paintman for viewing PSA servicebox for information

All of you keep well

Glad it worked out in the end - funnily enough I found a bottom hose off one of my old 106s kicking around in the garage last night and thought of this thread. biggrin
Somebody will be in need of that in the future
