Hi: my 2003 996 Turbo has done 70,000 and I'm contemplating a total rebuild. Any idea how much I should budget and any recommendations?
Thanks
Graham

Well she's a keeper and has reached a certain age. I've never done major maintenance so I guess it's time. Nothing is broken but several oil weeps.. so it's a preventive maintenance really..then I hope to drive her more. Much more

Thanks. Well I've definitely decided to have the engine out and stripped so it's a question of choosing the right specialist..

Nine Excellence in Horley, near Gatwick. This is their bread and butter. My engine came out recently for a big overhaul of coolant hoses, brake lines and turbos refurbed. Give Ken or Adam a call.

I will email you some details when I get a moment.

As Caddyshack said the engine itself is very robust and may not need opening up unless you have a specific issue or are looking at big power upgrades which require internal component upgrades.

At your age and mileage the money may be better spent on refurbing both turbos (expensive if required), refreshing corroded / leaking lines and fasteners that are better accessed with the engine removed and a major service including spark plugs, all fluids and all filters.
