Hi, can anyone recommend a company to rebuild/exchange an Essex v6? They would have to be able to remove and fit as well. Have read good things about Ric Wood so far

Could just play roulette with the yellow pages but i want this done properly. Thanks for any scare stories or recommendations!

Oh, and sorry if this is the wrong section

Rick wood had my Wedge on his RR, his working methods seemed OK but £125/hour + VAT seemed somewhat steep to me. I Also have other opinions but won't be posting them here (enough people seem to use this site as www.bitching.com)

JW Developments in Wolverhampton I would recommend very strongly, he has a massive wealth of knowledge on Ford V6 engines. He has prepared many championship winning engines, if you do give him a call have an idea of what your wanting and alow a minimum of one hour for the call! If you do call JW you could tell him my 2.8i V6 is peaking at 261BHP but more importantly 240 to 270Lb/Ft of torque from 2800rpm to 6000rpm.

Regards,

Chris.
Cheers guys.

I spoke to ric wood yesterday, just way too expensive. I'll give JW a bell next week, thanks for heads up. Sounds a beast! Also considering the car clinic, anyone heard of them?

I don't want any bitching, and i know the internet can hardly be relied on but i have found a few rebuilders which have a few not so happy customers put it that way!

Thanks

That Daddy said:
Are you getting this engine built to stock spec i.e 138hp spec or is it going to be a breathed on powerhouse?evil
As breathed on as i can afford. I don't need veyron style power to get some sideways action in a capri... but the more the merrier!

They've all said to me the pistons are costly (60 each, iirc) but otherwise its not expensive compared to other engines

cheers

Cheers for the advice mate.

As it turns out, i've found a really good used 3.0 engine so there no need to have a rebuild. Its going to be fitted on the 4th Oct so i've got a few weeks to sort out some mods! Any ideas on what i should do to get a few more horses without touching the block? Thanks!
