Gearbox info required - Lotus/Renault combination

A long shot but I'm asking for a neighbour & this seems to be the most appropriate section (I think).

Does anyone amongst the PH masses know where I could get some more information about and a possible source for a gearbox casing for a Renault Fuego Turbo circa 1983?

It's for some mad mid-engined Lotus kit car his brother in law has, the gearbox has some strange uprated internals but the casing itself is cracked & beyond repair. Apparently this is the only box that will fit his car & engine combination.

Can anyone help shed some light on the subject??

Thanks guys, some interesting info there. I'll see how much more info I can get about the car & the engine, as it's 2nd & 3rd hand info that I've got if you catch my drift.

I must say I wasn't expecting any mention of JB or JC series boxes, I know a bit about these What similarities are there between JB/C & NG boxes?

Well after speaking to my neighbour a bit more, I've found out the car is a Lotus Europa race car, modified to make it road legal. So I may be mistaken about the uprated bits in the gearbox.
