If the fog light's still needed, isn't there a lookey likey alternative out there somewhere?
It's good to be back even just for a short time. I'm so pleased to see some of the old gang still knocking about biggrin

Any idea where in can get a look alike please?

Nothing has changed Mel. Jez changed his forum name but is still building a monster Monaro (he seems to have a Rover fetish now too hehe ).
i was socially distancing with the 007s last Thursday. Mark has a health problem at the moment which needs sorting after this Covid19 finishes but Jacci is fine and James is growing up fast.
I haven't seen anything of Stiggy for ages. I know he went through a domestic split but then seemed happy with his new partner.
Most keep in touch on Facebook now, especially those of us who have drifted away from the brand.
ARAF tell me you didn't sell the R8 cry !!!
Whats Jez's new name so I can say hi please? I need to hear about this Rover laugh Does he still have Mental Betty?
Talking about 007 did the BBQ thread stop as I can't find it? I hope it's not to serious frown It's great to know the rest of the family are doing well.
It's been a terrible year so far hasn't it frown I lost my mum to cancer in January, which has broken me up pretty badly . I'd hoped that was going to be the end of the bad year but and then Covid19 arrived, and now these bloody riots and unrest rolleyes
I noticed Stig had split from Sarah, and WOW I didn't see that coming eek …. I'm sure he's around somewhere pissing someone off hehe
It's so good to drop in, I've missed this place. The days of Thunder Road were fantastic cool

Hi Charlie, thanks for dropping in to say hi, I've enjoyed catching u with some of you biggrin
We were going to sell the R8 but we still can't bring ourselves to do it, its only done 40k miles.

I meant to ask ARAF, what's happened to Monkfish, I couldn't believe it when I found out they'd gone eek

Glad to hear you are both well, sorry to read about your mum.
As ARAF mentioned i think MWP had some made, they may have some left on the shelf.
Yes still got the monaro, dabbled with a VXR8 for a couple of years and then decided that the monaro was the one for me, now have a golf r as a daily rather than a vxr8.
Hope to see you at meet up soon.
Thank you so much, i only just popped on here again (If no one objects I'll be around a lot more) . Gareth recommended MWP so we'll have a look! The whole thing will probably need replacing with all the water that's probably gotten inside although the light still works !

I love the VXR8 but there's just something special about a Monaro. I loved ours and really miss it, I wonder where it is now frown

I'm hoping to arrange a meet for next summer, maybe a drag day! Not sure how many would be interested now though.
We'll see, what do you think?

Sounds like a good idea Mel. Any excuse for a for a drive out.
Was North of Watford when I first bought the Monaro which I still have all these years later, currently Sorned for the winter.
That's what I was thinking, life has become pretty depressing recently, F##king Covid!
So many owners sorn their V8's for winter, unless it snows it's my daily driver..........never a dull trip that way bounce

I could defiantly do with getting out for a day, plus the VXR8 hasn't stretched her legs properly for a long time. We always had a good laugh and it was so exhilarating. I'm not sure if anyone will be interested though. I don't recognize hardly anyone on here now.

I'll start a new thread once I've spoken to MYM8V8 again!

Damn it feels good to be back !

Were ok ,car wise got luis to tune it as it had got the usual st monkfish tune in it ,car runs much better and more power ,don't use it much theses days only twice this year ,more into my bikes really
I'm glad you're well, i had no idea about these Monkfish tunes. To be fair we had great results from ours but it makes me wonder what we could have had!
Yeah i know you love your bikes but your VXR8 is awesome!

What is the issue with the Wortec tune? I have read of some people criticising it in the past, surely it is as good a tune as you would ever need on a road car.
My car has what Monkfish used to call a focus pack, I can't see how another tune would make the car perform any better than it does now.
I'm happy to be proved wrong though.
I think the tune is very good when used well! You get different results from different tunes. We were happy with our dyno results with the Wortec tune, Wortec full bimodal exhaust with OTR and they were by Monkfish. It made a great difference to be honest. However i hear others haven't been so lucky!

The spec of your car sounds very similar to mine.
How much rear wheel HP and torque did your car produce with those mods.

John
The Monaro was an LS1 with the Road response pack, Limited slip diff, Quick shift gear box, A better air filter and full Wortec exhaust system and remap. We got 293 rear wheel HP

The VXR8 is an LS3 with full bi-modal Wortec system 100 flow cats, Wortec remap, OTR, LS7 clutch and on the dyno we got 386.2 RWHP ......theres a video of the run somewhere on here ......i got rather excited bounce

Now i don't want to start a war of words ,there are lot of people who had there cars sc and the results were blown engines and the people this happen to kept it to themselves but i have spoken to others that were not happy ,i took my car to monkfish to be sc and that ended in a massive disaster for me and monkfish they had to put it right at there cost and took 3 months to get it back ,the tune was not the cause of the problem in that caes ,when i had it retuned i asked about the old tune and was told it was not good the car had a 1 bar map sensor in it and you have to use a 2 bar sensor to be able to tune a sc right as time as gone by more people have now had there cars retuned and fined the new tunes much better
I remember all of that happening, what a nightmare. Is it running well now Rick?

I have to say this whole thing worries me about the wortec tune, I was one of the last cars to be SC by Monkfish and although I have had no problems I feel I am sitting on a time bomb.

It would be nice to have some reassurance but we all know that's not going to happen.

I will be taking mine to MWP next year to have the map looked at by Louis sola and I am almost certain I will need a remap, I will be reporting back on this forum when done.
That's a good idea, a map by MWP would be cheaper than the cost of fixing a screwed SC!

Surly a decent run on a dyno would highlight any issues ?
I've been there and watched some of the cars that later had the problems, run on the dyno with no problems found at the time.

Please don't misunderstand my point, everything the fish did for me was absolutely perfect.

I just want to keep on top of things, am thinking my tune may have drifted a little due to my small upgrades.

There is no reason from my previous post to suggest that my current tune is poor.
I didn't misunderstand you at all, as i've said in this thread already our MF tune has been great.
You actually said and i quote "I have to say this whole thing worries me about the wortec tune, I was one of the last cars to be SC by Monkfish and although i have has no problems I feel like I'm sitting on a time bomb"

As you've pointed out you'll get no reassurance.

So as you can see i was agreeing with you, it's best to get it checked out as you don't want to take the risk of your "time bomb" going "BOOM"
However i'm just a female, what do I know! smile
