Vauxhall VXR8, the new bellend mobile?
Discussion
Despite how rare I assume these are, I've seen four different examples of these over the past week, and each time they were driven so inappropriately aggressively for the time of day/location/setting it got me thinking that these are now attracting ex Focus ST drivers. I'm sure most of you will understand.
I get the appeal, big V8, relatively unusual and different to the established competitors, good looking, well to my eyes at least, cheap, or at least good value, loads of performance upgrades available. I like them.
I'm sure they are great cars, but would the image put you off?

Ha, maybe it's just one of those cars that brings out the inner idiot...certainly the one I saw today, full bore start from each traffic light, which would have been great apart from there are three sets within about 100 yards and the phasing is such as each one goes green the next changes to red so the guy looked like a tool as he made loads of noise but didn't go anywhere...the old dears sat outside the coffee shop opposite looked suitable impressed when he gave that arm on the top of the door, seat reclined, drum and bass thousand yard stare....
With all that said, I've been looking at them in the classifieds for the last hour!

That's a fair comment.
I suppose I'm just conscious that as soon as I start taking an interest in them, every one I see seems to be driven, to some extent! In the manner I've described, the worst example being today.
Of course I'm not suggesting every owner is like that, but unfortunately some models of certain cars can start to attract negative connotations.
As I've said, I originally intended this for general gassing before a moderator moved it into this sub forum.

Thank you for being so informative.
Most people considered the subject ended in the Noble thread, I'll give you a clue, when people stop posting, generally it means that there is little else to say.
But hey, thanks for raising it in this completely unrelated thread, it's been very helpful.

Thank you Sturdy, on reflection I'd be inclined to agree.
I think it would have been a more relevant topic for general gassing rather than a specific owners section to get a more balanced view, obviously ignoring trolls like the guy above who seem to get increasingly and repeatedly abusive when someone doesn't share the same view, but hey I'm sure the moderation team had their reasons.
The more I look into these, the more I think they might make an interesting, if unusual replacement for he 335i I have just sold. I had been considering a Lexus ISF. I have another car for daily duties, so running costs are not a particular concern, but big bills considering it'll get a relatively small amount of use are.
Anyone got experience of both?

I think the title of your OP isn't helping you attract serious debate, whilst I appreciate you didn`t ask to be dropped in this forum you have to accept that it will attract a little animosity.
The accusation could be levelled at many different cars but as stated previously its the drivers fault not the car. The VXR8 is relatively rare as stated and many owners ive met/chatted to on here and especially FB are mature drivers not the quintessential boy racer stereotype.
P.S I'm a Monaro owner not a VXR8 so neutral on the argument
Fair enough, moving of the thread was unfortunate. Although equally some of the posters could perhaps have helped by reading what I'd typed, not just the title. The accusation could be levelled at many different cars but as stated previously its the drivers fault not the car. Out of interest how may VXR8's are in the country?
Certain cars tend to attract certain drivers and certain stereotypes, not always accurate and not always representative of course.
I started to take notice of VXR8's, and it appeared that the next four I noticed were being driven in an overly (and I'm no angel by any stretch, where it is appropriate) spirited manner, certainly on the pulse raising side of what I'd say was acceptable on the road. The last example from the town centre...no excuses for that it was just a guy being antisocial, and a bellend.
I'm not suggesting this is representative of the majority of owners necessarily, but it has become noticeable.

The VXR8 is a 'shouty' car before you turn the key. It attracts people that like to show off so I'll agree that there will often be more show-boating than from cars with a more restrained style.
If you want to have a look around one before deciding, let us know where you are and I'm sure someone close will show you around theirs.
Yeah, I agree with that, and I suppose it's that image, or perception maybe, that I'm not sure sits particularly well with me.If you want to have a look around one before deciding, let us know where you are and I'm sure someone close will show you around theirs.
I should drive one and take it from there.
Thank you to the sensible posters.
