Hello all,

My first post in perhaps 10 years! Just had the MOT done on car and the tester showed me the rust which is starting to appear underneath. It looks somewhat worrying. Has anyone had rust addressed and under-sealing done of late? I am after a recommendation in the South / Surrey / Hampshire / Berks area. The only posts I can find are a few years old

I've had the car since it was a year old (LS2 VXR 2006) and would dearly like to keep it for as long as I can. Just worried about the situation underneath and really need to do something.

Thanks

Thanks both, for the quick and prompt reply. A wonderful little community.

I've a mate with a garage so DIY is an option.

If someone has any recommendations then I'll also look at those. Want to get it sorted before the Winter sets in.

It's really a weekend car. Ideally I wish I could keep it in a garage.

It looks like I should make a start to get this sorted out soon. Thanks All for your contributions and suggestions.

That's good advice. I'll report back when I get this done given you've taken the time to share knowledge.

Gotta keep the big V8 running. https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/imgs/6.gif

Hi All,

Thanks guys for sharing your experiences and recommendations of where to get the work done. I have now booked myself in for early November with one of the mentioned garages.

As some of you have mentioned it looks like surface rust rather than something more worrying.

Time and space prevents me from addressing it myself so I'm happy to pay someone else to do the work.

I'll share the experience and pre and post photos once the work has been done with a view to helping others who may be looking to do the same in the future. About time I contributed to the forum.smile

Good information building up here.
You need to unzip images. Can then attach using link "upload an image".
I will post back next month when mine is done.

CSK automotive in Hoddesdon.
Picked up the car after having Stage 4 treatment completed from CSK.

Looked like surface rust. Here's some photos of the work - I'd also recommend Chris at CSK automotive if you're looking to get something similar done. Distance and scheduling meant it was easier for me to get the car to Chris and pick it up a week later.

Thanks to all for help, comments and guidance.

Yes no hidden horror stories under the rust. It was surface only and removed.
Happy to have got it done.

Perhaps but never too late. I wasn't sure how long I'd hold onto the car.
And the first thing on one's mind is the exhaust rather than corrosion prevention!
I'm going to keep it for as long as a I can.
