So I've owned my monaro vxr for over 12 years and never really found a true factory workshop manual for a VZ I've scoured the intenet and posted links to everything I've ever found
Holden vt >vx factory manual
Various scanned haynes type manuals
GM parts catalogue
GM factory manuals that cover 2004 ls1 Pontiac gto. 2005 ls2 pontiac gto and GM Vauxhall vxr8 6.0 and 6.2 . But never a Holden /HSV factory manual that covers RHD Aus spec 5.7 and 6.0 VZ models...... until now :-)

There all in there Holden/HSV monaro/commodore/ Utes/ VT > VZ
Download unzip enjoy (though you may have to twiddle a few settings in adobe to ease navigating

Many Thanks for the Link to download this mighty tome.
Which file or folder is the one to open it up.
I've been trying pot luck and am just stumbling around a lot of unnamed folders. Randomly finding unrelated sections.
I know the 05 CV8 is the VZ.
Once you unzip the folder you should find a pdf called main menu double click that and the pdf should open from then on you just click the relevant links in the pdf either i the side bar or on the pages themselves . I had to add the backward forward buttons to my toolbar in adobe and turn off the security warnings on every page ... that made it a little easier to navigate

Please tell me how to unzip the download to use with pdf, thanks I am useless with computers.

Adebyebye
Right click on the downloaded file and in the list should be "extract" click it and it will ask where you want to save the extracted file, its your choice but i select "desktop" then click ok
After a short time you should then have the unzipped folder on your desktop or wherever you saved it. Double click the unzipped file and it will open with two folders in it one is named somthing like MACOS ignore that one and double click the other and you should find a pdf called "main menu" double click that and the manual should open in adobe acrobat

So you've double clicked on main menu and the pdf has opened so you should have the vz option on the pdf page left click on it once and it should proceed to the next page where you click the next option by clicking on it once

Are you sure you have unzipped the downloaded file and not just exploring the zipped folder .what you are describing is what happens if the file is still compressed .

The only pdf you should open is the one called "main menu" from then on you click the relevent links within the pdf and the index list on the left of the page. Ignore all the other files they are all accessed via the links in the main pdf and open automatically as you navigate through the index

When I click main menu doesn't display anything...so no idea what to do next
Maybe go back over this thread and double check that

A. You have downloaded the file from mega to your pc (I've tried it on andriod phone and tablet and it didn't work so PC only for me )
B. That you have then extracted the content of the zip file to a folder on your pc
C. That you have adobe reader installed on pc to run the pdf
D. You double click the main menu pdf then you should be able to navigate all the information from within that window via links in the index

If you've done all that and it still doesn't work im not sure why. i have it on windows 7 and 10 no problems

Frustratingly I've done all of that. I have all the files on my PC and adobe and I can see a huge amount of files but when I click on the main menu, nothing. I have looked against the downloaded files and where it says main menu it only says its 43KB so bit confused.
So in the extracted folder you have 2 files
_MACOSX
And
VTVZ_GHM_SMI
When you open VTVZ_GHM_SMI you find
Main Menu pdf (34KB on mine)
Double click that and you should get this
