VXR8/Monaro volume

Hello all,

So I have wanted one of these (either) for a long time mainly due to the presence and the sound more than anything else.

I am now in a position where I need a 4 seater so can start justifying this to myself.

question is, can you start these cars quietly without pissing off your neighbours. I live on a terraced street in London and often leave at 6am, I am just worried I am going to start getting complaints if I fire up a 6.0l V8 with Wortec exhaust on it every morning

I feel like I heard somewhere you can get a quiet button set up? Is this true and does it work?

Yeah I am leaning towards the VXR8 as I just like the look of the car and the sound. Monaros is a bargain at current prices though. I do see Monaros seem to hang around online for a long time when they are getting sold though. Get the impression the VXR8 may be easier to sell later on but either way I guess its not gonna be easy to get a good price quickly.


This volume thing could really scupper plans tho - it is exactly why I want the car but I just dont want to find I start getting notes on the windscreen!? I do have those sorts of neighbours too!

definitely don't want the normal exhaust on it. I dont think I have ever heard one with the normal exhaust but regardless of that I really think the weirdly small tailpipes look wrong

I love the RS6 but the auto box kills it for me

I am looking at RS4s which I also love but they just dont do it for me the way an obnoxious VXR8 does

Any real solutions to this then? OR do I park this project and wait till we move house

two things here....

1. is nobody reaaaallly going to pick up on the comment above.... I mean maybe I am the only childish one on here but....

2. This is actually making me genuinely sad and pissed off again at how bad value living in London is. Sounds like being on a terrace is really going to stop this from being an option now. No way I could bring myself to buy one with the standard exhaust, unless someone can convince me otherwise.

Will a standard exhaust on a monaro be ok?

Interested in peoples experiences as I guess I could get a standard exhaust and then upgrade it when we move
