Having had a couple of Griffs I've now got the itch for another TVR and this Tamora caught my eye - also listed on Pistonheads.

Just wondering whether the PH collective might have any info on it? Reg is SHY 630G.

A few of things are a bit puzzling. DVLA has it untaxed since Feb 2018 and MOT expired since March 2020, yet the seller states it has a long MOT in the ad. Secondly, it's listed on a Cazana search, where the front looks a different white to the rest of the car? DVLA also list the colour as purple, when it's clearly white with a hint of purple in the light - honest mix-up?

Any thoughts appreciated - it's certainly done the miles and the service history differs on the two ads linked.

Certainly not a steal with those miles.

The Amore Autos one is a nice one, just can't get excited about the colour!

Hi,
I'm considering selling my '04 Tamora if you are interested. Rebuilt engine by TVR Powers, new clutch, flywheel, slave cylinder, suspension refurbished by Gaz, lots of other new parts, including brakes etc all with less than 4000 miles since. Spent a fortune and have no spare time to enjoy it.

Chris
Sounds lovely - feel free to message me with the details.

At £23k it’s not keenly priced. It’s daylight robbery.
Thanks - I'm glad my eyes weren't deceiving me! I did find their protestations rather too much. As always, the service history is key and there are some black holes and anomalies.

I'm looking at Tamoras at the lower end of the price spectrum, although I might even try and buy my old Griff back as it was a beautiful example despite being a Cat D write off many years ago. It's less than ten miles from me and I'm in regular contact with the owner.

I do fancy something different though and like the appeal of the Speed Six engines.

Looks very fishy to me, would give Powers performance a call to find out when it was last serviced or rebuilt, one owner and with very dubious paint work, maybe best placed for the auction house ? Try a cheeky offer of 15k and work up or down from there depending on the full history wink
Yes, it really does belong to the auction and has apparently been for sale for a long time. There's also an even cheaper one on Ebay that seems better, but I'm not particularly keen on black cars.

Do dealers really accept offers so far apart from the advertised price?

I think it would be wise for them to consider it. In my humble opinion, that car would be £17995 with all the prep work completed (including the paint).
Thanks for your input. I noticed that it wasn't long ago that the lower price spectrum of Tamoras started from £14k onwards.

I used to own the black Tamora you mentioned above on flee bay, another poster (Sixor8) said it had been bought at auction last summer, again the advert is poorly worded and the pictures are selective, there is a thread about 12 down below this one called 'Buying a Tamora Advice' which may be of use, if you have any questions then fire away ! smile
Checked again and it looks like the black one may have just sold. Be great if the new owner popped their head round here and tells their story.

What's the view on aircon - is it irrelevant on a Tamora and was it any good anyway? Secondly, is the warm up procedure just common sense on such a hand-built engine, or is there a more complicated procedure to follow? Most of my journeys would be relatively short (less than 15 miles each way) so would it still be a suitable choice?

Not convinced it sold, that black Tam had air con, wouldn't say it's essential but a bonus if fitted, the warm up procedure is straightforward and common sense, my commute was 35 miles round trip and it would be warmed up within 5 miles on the B roads, at 3k rpm in 4th or 5th gear you're still making good progress.

The colour was Moonraker black (not starmist) and originally on a PN03 xxx number plate, out of six speed 6's i have owned that was the only one that required a rebuild, expect it will resurface at some stage in the near future smile
I see it's back on Ebay again after a very short hiatus.

Quite telling that they deliberately avoided including interior pictures. They had previously emailed me the interior pictures and they are grim, certainly not retail standard.
