Sag's appreciating in value?
Discussion
Reading through the "What if sell my Sagaris thread" there was a comment made about Sag's continuing to appreciate in value.
Whats the thought on this statement. They seem to have had a ceiling top value of about £80k now for a few years with I guess most cars trading at between £65k and £75k. So to me while they have obviously increased in value markedly probably since about 2013/2014 - they now seem to have stopped for a while now with not much movement since about 2018

If I remember the thread correctly... I may well have said they've appreciated, rather than appreciating, which I dare say is the case with most TVR's anyway.
It wasn't you - the quote was from Englishman in the thread - "If you were to sell your Sagaris..." - not saying he is right or wrong. Just got me thinking that's all.Englishman said:
What I said was '.....continuing to appreciate in value'. I'm a long time Sag owner (since 2005) and when I look at the prices now they have appreciated considerably in that time. I'm not someone that checks prices every month or year and I'm sure they have gone up and down during that period. But overall I've no complaints about today's values and see no reason to believe they won't continue to rise further long term.
Got it - I was just looking at since about 2018 when the top value was about 85k etc. Not much appreciation since then, 85k seems to be the ceiling. Whereas my Lotus has increased markedly in the last 2 yearsMikeE said:
It's always a wonder to me why a classic like a 1992 pre-cat Griffith (and other TVR's) hasn't appreciated like a 1961 E-type, similar concepts, beauty, purity of purpose, accolades etc yet miles apart in terms of relative values
Value of a restored, top spec, press car and Neill Anderson's development and sprint winning 4.5BV pre-cat £40K+
Value of a basket case 1961 3.8 FHC E-type requiring full restoration £70K+
Thought I recognised that Reg as soon as i saw itValue of a restored, top spec, press car and Neill Anderson's development and sprint winning 4.5BV pre-cat £40K+

So in 7 years of ownership outside of normal servicing and consumables
Replacement Starter Motor
Replacement AirCon Condenser
Replacement rubber fuel line (not needed, but just common sense)
Replacement Temp Sensor M1275
Replacement Battery (actually the cause of poor starting, starter motor was fine and I didn't need to replace)
Resoldered connection to heated rear window
All but the AirCon Condenser and Fuel Line were replaced by my myself and nothing more that a simple socket set and tools
Not bad for a 17 year old car

"The 3 headed dog has gone to live in Wales but the garage is now full of a small Persian battle axe" I love this quote
Said 3 Headed Dog is actually back up for sale in Wales currently - https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/13511723Seems like the current owner has had it since I sold to him in 2015. Fabulous Cerbera, much missed
