After Burnout's thread, seems a few of us are hovering around that area and fancy a meet, a poke around a few Astons and then some grub at Brooklands later, I'll chat to the people there and hopefully as a Trust member, if it's a quiet day we can go up to the Clubhouse, which is nice. For a nice southern shandy smile

Weather forecast for this weekend 7/8 Jan is dry, anyone fancy doing it sooner rather than later? We have unsalted roads at present, if not now then it might be a while! If we have takers, I'll give Trinity a call as well.

Names below, if there's a handful of us then it'd be worth it, and whether you prefer the Saturday or the Sunday. If no takers we'll re-arrange but good to strike while the iron is hot as it were!

1) Yeti (Lewis) - DB9 Volante

BTW Yeti I only just put 2 and 2 together and realised you are Marcos on SELOC. DOH!!
Why not do the Winter Warmer on Sunday morning then the Aston meet in the afternoon?
I'm Marcos everywhere but here - the name was already taken when I joined all those years back frown

Winter warmer looks like fun but it's not that much fun being the only non-Elise believe it or not! I see you're there though, hmm...

I'll see how this thread goes, if I get enough to make a go of it then I will, if not I'll sign up to Azlan's event!

I wish - just realised I am working this Sunday in the morning, will be done by 11. I;d even signed up, better cross myself off frown

Guys, looks like Sunday from early lunchtime, Brooklands is probably the better bet as Trinity will likely be closed on a Sunday? I will check with Brooklands that you can all use the Campbell gate (not the Merc turning). There's a nice cafe with decent food, can have a quick/long look round the museum if wanted (as you'll have paid to see it!) and then maybe head off for a blat; Hindhead tunnel, towards Goodwood, the world is our lobster...

OK, time and place.

Lets say the Campbell gate at Brooklands at 12:30 on Sunday. Pass the roundabout for Mercedes-Benz World (if you're heading off the A3 and heading towards Weybridge) and you'll see a turning on the left about 300m afterwards. Keep left, head down the big concrete ramp (part of the old circuit and there will be a man with a beard asking you for money!

I'll speak with the Trust tomorrow to confirm it all and post back up to finailise we're A-OK. Last Sunday they had the MX-5 owners in there so I'm sure they'll be thrilled to see some Astons instead smile

I'll try and get us a group rate as well. Fingers crossed for some decent weather, it's a lovely place to do some photos anyway.

I really, really want to come, but new brake pads not until Tuesday and slightly dubious about making the trip beforehand, car has started squealing a lot (only 300 gentle miles since the warning came on) but I'm not sure another 40 return is a good idea.
Shmee, if you can get to Putney mainline station or East Putney tube, I'll give you a lift down and drop you back off?

Just spoked to Brooklands, one of the AMOC regions is having their Christmas lunch there on Sunday!

It might mean the paddock outside the Clubhouse is full, but it'll still be full of other Astons which is nice! They can park 30 cars in there so we'll see who can park there, if not we just park in the paddocks alongside but we'll all be together.

Taking shape nicely, weather looks OK. Could be a nice day out, anyone know a decent route around some backroads nearby?

That's the olden days John, it's all changed, get with the programme.

Only the men need beards now smile

You're very welcome Mark, it's always fun to meet new owners who are still blown away by the experience of ownership! You might learn what all the buttons do as well from the old hands...

is there a prize for the dirtiest car?
Generally no-one bothers to try and compete with me. I always win, not helped by the fact I usually park next to Tony, who has the CLEANEST of cars!

Blimey, I was expecting a handful of us. Ah well, the more the merrier, we might have to do the Hindhead Tunnel with this many Astons though!

I shall gove Brooklands a call and tell them we've increased in numbers!!

Sounds a lot like a challenge, and if it's a challenge, it's also an excuse for me not to clean it. Therefore, I accept!
Good luck smile

Actually my remarks were tongue in cheek, mt Dad cleaned it when I took it home at Christmas! There are some (hopefully) mud stains around the arches that won't come off anymore though frown

Hi Tim, wondered which region it was. Had we done this on a Saturday I'd have been calling you and asking if we could have visited!

As it is I'm a Trust Member at Brooklands and have spoken to Donna so it's all arranged we can enter via the Campbell Gate and take our chances with parking. Our plan was to have some food in the cafe, I think we're too many for the Clubhouse now then probably go out for a bit of a run... Will see what the consensus is and take it for there.

But there will be a huge amount of Astons for a Sunday in January!! It's no Hever but not a bad effort.

I think what this shows is that we don't meet up enough and that there are a lot of people willing for a meet...

OK guys, just contacted Brooklands, the extra cars aren't a promblem although it's best we arrive as a group! Tim's AMOC Christmas lunch group will be in around 11am and we will be in at 12:30 so we shouldn't get mixed up, though if we did it wouldn't be the end of the world!

We'll all drive in though the Campbell Gate entrance (pass the roundabout for M-B World and keep going on Brooklands Road for another 300m. It's an unmarked left turn, I'll try and park at the top and wave people down!) and park up so we can pass though the kiosk into the Brooklands complex as a group. I'll be there at 12 and will hopefully be one of the first to arrive so if you see a green DB9 Volante, you're in the right place! Just stop and park up and we'll wait until we're all there, or nearly all.

Being a group over 15 people entitles us for a pound off, so entry will be £9 which gets you into the museums and displays for as long as you please. You can also wander over to Mercedes-Benz world, a 2 minute walk away and see their goodies - it's free.

The Sunbeam cafe is very good and very cheap so we'll take lunch there if people want to, everything from cooked meals to sandwiches, and it'll be very informal, eat and drink when you want, nothing is reserved. There is a bar upstairs for those partaking but you'll need to go via me as it's members only.

That should clear it all up. I'll take a list of names with me and tick them off so we can see how we're doing, otherwsie please introduce yourselves to everyone else, not many of us know each other so it'll be great to put names to PH names!

Clears everything up? My number, in case you are lost or need to inform me of... something, is 07590 457776.

Edited to correct my phone number!! Thanks Bamford Mike!!

See y'all tomorrow, fingers crossed the weather stays like this!
