Flat battery on DB9
Discussion
Having left the DB9 standing for a while, the battery has gone flat. Can't open it with the ECU, but I should be able to get in with the little metal key. Whereabouts do I charge the battery at? Are there 2 terminals somewhere or do I need to take the battery out?
Typical for this to happen on the one sunny day of the year so far

Flat batteries = Friday the 13th!? (seriously not asking for answers on this one!)
Good luck with your's George......
Typical isn't it!Good luck with your's George......
Cheers, have you got yours sorted now?
I've found a positive terminal under the bonnet, does anyone know where the negative one is? I must have been looking a good 15 mins and I'm sure there isn't one. I think I'm going mad.

manual suggests the alternator mounting bracket for the negative. But before you will get anywhere you need to press the battery reset button under the drivers side rear seat bolster. The system trips out the battery before it gets totally flat.
enter using the key and note if the window drops when you open the door. sort the reset button, then jump/charge the battery. Be very careful closing the doors again if the window hasn't dipped down a tad. If it hasn't you will need to do the reset on that also.
Forgive my incompetence, but what does the alternator bracket look like? I was just reading the manual and it shows a picture of the positive terminal, but not where it suggests to put the negative one.enter using the key and note if the window drops when you open the door. sort the reset button, then jump/charge the battery. The windows didn't drop at all, and due to my immense stupidity I opened the drivers door, the realised the bonnet release was at the passenger side, so opened that too. Now I can't close them, so the car is parked on the drive with both doors and the bonnet open.
Oh fk this. I've just rung Aston assistance and they will be out within the hour. I'm so ashamed I had to ring for help with a flat battery. Why don't they just give you a bd negative terminal, would make it so much easier for the incompetent!
Oh and yes Neil, that is too cruel!
Jockman, when you post asking for help because your battery died, I'll be the first one to come laughing

seriously, an aerospace engineer and you have to ring AM assistance for a flat battery. What are you an aerospace engineer for Dan Dare? you should be ashamed of youself!
I design bits, I don't do the hands on stuff! And yes, I'm massively ashamed, admitting defeat isn't something I usually do easy, but I was getting seriously pissed off with it!

Bit concerned about the frozen interior....your volante closing properly ??
Same here - it's thawed out now but still full of condensationNeil, the manual is stored in my office for precisely that reason
Mikey, I wasn't jumping it, I was going to connect it to a charger and leave it overnight. My knowledge of electrics is very limited, haven't done anything since my ONC and that was a fair while ago! You don't need to have any concerns about flying... yet. Nothing I'm working on is currently in production

Good lad Georgeous.
You're not talking about the AM Battery Conditioner are you
Not good now, see my other thread You're not talking about the AM Battery Conditioner are you
I don't have an AM battery conditioner (soon to be rectified), just a cheap battery charger. Also the conditioner wouldn't bring a battery back from completely flat. The AA man highly recommended I get one with surge protection. He also did a test on the battery and said it will be completely fine once charged up, but if I'm honest, that's the least of my worries at the minute.

It's on the checklist for when you first get your car matey
As noted, no conditioner I know of will bring back a battery if the terminal voltage has dropped below 7v. The AMs are meant to cut the battery off before it drops into single figures to protect it. Could be what happened to yours.
The Battery Conditioner is made by C-TEK, I think, a Swedish Company, and probably a throwback to the volvo days. If you want me to post mine out to you on an overnight courier to help out in the meantime, just say - you can drop it back off at Easter.
I'm working my way through threads until I reach your other gripe. May need a stiff drink before I get there
Thanks for the offer Jockman, as I've been unable to give the car a run I just left it running for approx 2 hours. Hopefully that will give it enough charge to start it tomorrow, if not I may take you up on that I was supposed to get one but never did, it will be getting sorted soon.
