Well, lucky man that I am, the DBS needs 4 new tyres.

Predictably, AM dealer has quoted c£250 more than other places.

One of their many claims as to why I should use them (and suck up the difference), is that apparently only they have access to the tools necessary to re-fit the tyre pressure monitors.

I do smell manure here but wanted to check whether there was any substance to this prior to calling them back and chipping the price.

Thanking you. smile

its not exactly new, rare technology so I would think most good local places can do it ...otherwise they wouldnt be able to change tyres on any mainstream cars these days
Agreed.

BS from the dealer as suspected.

Don't know if you've had this car from new, but if not, make sure that the fronts haven't been balanced to compensate for the CCM rotors IAW the Aston service bulletin. If it has been done, a local place wouldn't have any idea how to accomplish the same for the new tires. If the SB has not been done to your car (because it wasn't needed), then you are good to go with a local shop since the standard practice balancing procedure will be fine.
That's a great point which I had overlooked.

My car has had the relavant service updates to sort out the "wheel wobble' issue.

Mmm. Time to go back and negotiate a better price with the dealer then.

Cheers. smile

I think that so long as the SB pointed out by DB9VD above has not been enacted, then I don't believe this system to be proprietary.
As I mentioned a couple of posts previously Mr Jockman, it has. smile
